Im getting lazy in my old age. I know i do not v shoot enough. Just curious how many shts per day or week do yku sht t stay in the groove so t speak.

Zero. I haven't been one to shoot every day since I was a kid.

Per week? Less than once. But I'm shooting well, know my limitations, and I'm deadly. I'm ready. I'm always ready.

Nights I have to work I shoot abour 20-30 arrows a day in the afternoon before work. At least one day off a week I can spend time shooting 100 or more. When the weather is nice a bow is always strung and my target range is always set up for me to go out and shoot a few

From: George D. Stout Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Mostly every other day and about two dozen shots per outing.

From: Draven
Date: 24-Sep-17

Between 120 to 200 per session. Some weeks I go out 5 times, some just 3 times.

From: Crow

I guess im not to bad. I try to shoot every wek end maybe 60 shots and 1 or 2 evenings after work.

From: JusPassin Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

20 to 40 per day.

From: Therifleman
Date: 24-Sep-17

Everyday---between 50 and 150--- i cant stop. At this rate i should be GOOD, but am just mediocre. I believe i need to shoot less arrows and commit to making only great shots... But i cant stop myself...

I've found in shooting, any weapon really, quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality. How long, or well, I shoot per session depends....

From: LBshooter

I shoot everyday, shots range from a low of 20 to a high of 50.

Take the Dog out for long stump shoots atleast 3 days /week and usually 5 or 6 when cooler weather

God only knows how many I shoot- a lot

I put the bow on the wall from June 1st to mid September because I'm chasing bass and walleyes around. I started last week shooting 20 arrows per day 5 days. I take 2 days off a week. I will continue this until hunting season opens Oct 1st

Most likely not enough but for my hunting bow since I set up a fixed crawl and keep my shots at 22 yards and under I don't seem to need as much practice to be game on.

From: Draven

Jeff, you are right in a particular situation: when there is just one target available, with an imposed limit for distance. Diversity of targets and unlimited distances keeps the boredom level low.

40-50 everyday sometimes more

I try to shoot every day. But that never happens. Between work, weather, and the all famous "honey-do list". I do manage to shoot about 4 to 5 times a week. And 1 to maybe 100 shots when I do shoot. If i only shoot 1 arrow, that's for the "1st shot of the day thread."

From: Stew

Starting 2 weeks before opening day I shoot one arrow from the deck at a 3D deer and try to really make it count. If I fail I will limit myself to one second shot from a different location.

From: 2 bears

I try to shoot 3 dozen ever other day. It has been a long row back. Some times I may miss a day but rarely shoot more to make up for it. All kinds of bad habits start to creep back in when I get too tired.>>>----> Ken

Almost every day. Anywhere from 30 mins to an hour or so.

From: Terry J

Depends on the day, but at least 30 to 40 most days to a 100 plus on days Im off work.

From: moleman 1

I generally shoot everyday. I generally shoot with only one arrow for qaulity not qauntity. On a good day, one or 2 arrows is all I shoot, if Im a bit sloppy Ill shoot more to get my mind, eyes and body back in sink.

When weather permits 4 to 5 times a week. My sessions last 30 to 60 minutes.

I overdid it in late winter and kind of bunged up my shoulder; then I jammed my middle finger and it has been taking its own sweet time getting back to normal.

So I'm trying to hold myself to no more than a couple dozen a day. Any more just aggravates the snot out that one knuckle. But there's an up-side - focusing on arranging my fingers to minimize the pain on that middle joint seems to have cleaned up my release a bit.

I can only shoot about 50 feet in the yard here anyway, and it's just not that hard to stay on top of things at that range. First Shot is really helping me, though, because it puts some real pressure on getting it right the first time!

I rarely grab my bow before September as I am out fly fishin' or trolling for walleye or trying to catch that darn Muskey, haha! It is always the same for me, I just look at the target and shoot, more arrows don't change nothing for me. I am having fun shooting a new bow so I have shot more this past week. At the time I do not have a Horn bow but when I get my next one I will shoot often, almost everyday, but without one I just don't really care that much to be honest.

Every day unless its raining 75-100 easy

50 right handed and anywhere 100 to 300 left handed, four days a week. This week and for sure next week, zero. I gave two Ford Escort wheels with almost new tires to a guy rebuilding an old car for his kid. Tight space with all of my crap in the garage, so I used a chair instead of step ladder. Landed on my feet fell, back against a shelf, moved things around back there more than they should. I like to practice until the entire shot is on cruise control, but I have to be careful, for my right hand fingers, to not get carried away with too many too fast.

I've always loved to shoot and I shoot year round. I used to shoot a lot of arrows, but I let my shoulders tell me how many on any given day now. If I don't push it and screw things up, I'm generally safe shooting a few arrows a few times a day, but there's a day here and there that I don't shoot at all. It's not what I'd like to do, but It's better than the alternative.

4 or 5 days per week. Sometimes 20 or 30 shots per bow. Lot of days I shoot more than 1 bow. I've now narrowed it down to 2 bows that I plan to hunt with this year. MP

once I start shooting for the upcoming season, I usually try to shoot 25 to 50 arrows after supper, as many nights as I can.

From: RayJ

I take one arrow outside with me when I shoot. I shoot one the pull it and stand in a different spot and shoot another and so on. I shoot 3-5 times a week and 5-20 arrows a session.

Trad gear requires staying sharp. Best bet for many is every day. Right now I'm home during the day and shoot multiple times a day but it's something I like to do. Fine line though between staying sharp and overshooting. Use your own descretion and stay within your effective range when you hunt

From: H Rhodes

I shoot year round and about three times a week - usually around thirty arrows per session.

From: Silverstreak Archer

My goal is to shoot everyday, but as someone mentioned there is a quality vs quantity question. During the summer I will sometimes shoot upwards of 30-40 plus arrows per day, depending on weather and chores. This time of year, it gets difficult due to work. For example, if I shoot this morning (doubtful as it is raining), it will be one cold shot. I am to the point I need to get my basement target set up so I can shoot a few before work each day. I don't get a long range shot, but I can still work on keeping muscle tone and form.

From: Viper

Crow -

Do you have any idea how many times this same question has been asked (here)? ;^)

Re the quality v quantity thing, well sorry to break it to you, but to become proficient, you need both. There was a time when I was heavy into indoor work, 300/day - 1500/week wasn't abnormal. Still, these days, for a serious outdoor session, 100/session would be the bare minimum.

BUT, I'm talking about target work, where every arrow has to count, and one shot wonders don't really cut it. Come to think of it, I did the same thing years ago with my hunting bows ...

Viper out.

I can't say that I have any kind of regular schedule but when my muscles are healthy I usually get in at least 3 or 4 sessions a week. How many arrows I shoot depends on which bow I am shooting. Lately I have been spending time getting familiar with a new Kanati that is 45# @ 28". I am able to shoot this particular bow at least 50 or 60 arrows if I want occasionally more if I go slow.

But I am one of those who has to shoot reasonably often to maintain some semblance of proficiency. I really need to shoot more than I do in order to shoot my best. But I also don't envy anyone who can get by with just a few arrows a couple of times a week. That is because I very much enjoy shooting my bow. I shoot for relaxation as much as for any other reason.

15 to 20 shots most days.Just because I enjoy shooting
