Been shooting a Magnus stinger broadhead for a few weeks at my target as the season approaches. It got dull and banged up pretty good. I took out the Rada wheel sharpener and made 6 strokes on each side followed by 4 light strokes and it was shaving hair off my arm. Best 7.00 I ever spent for a sharpener!

FOR SURE! works on everything! I even sharpen my single bevel on the rada. Give you a micro bevel on the non beveled side but not enough to stop the spinning inside.

The broadhead I used to kill a buck with this year was sharpened on a RADA sharpener. I really like RADA knives, I like their sharpener more.

I had not heard of them till I read this tread in September and watched a video of a guy using one to sharpen a broadhead. It intrigued me so I order one. I have hand sharpen knives for years. I am impressed. If this isn't a salesman pitch, but it is the truth: My wife can even sharpen a knife now using one of these! She impressed herself. DANNY

With bow seasons across the country quickly approaching, good time to bring this back up.

This week I mounted and shot all my broadhead / arrow combinations for 2 different recurves for the upcoming season. I shoot broadheads year-round and when season is approaching, I'll choose my heads and arrows for the season and take them out once mounted and shoot them all from 15 to 40 yards to make double-sure they all fly right. It will build confidence in your choice of ammo if nothing else.

6 Simmons Sharks and 6 Zwickey Deltas, all mounted and flying perfectly. Time to resharpen after being shot. Using the Rada wheelie sharpener, with an hour or so I had all 12 heads hair-popping, scary sharp. I have a box full of files, stones and all kind of sharpeners and none compare to the simple little Rada wheelie sharpener.

Once all sharpened, I take a tube of chap stick and coat all the freshly sharpened edges with the chap stick. Its an excellent rust-preventative on the fresh edges, and chap stick in a small tube is easy to keep in your pocket throughout the hunting season to re-apply in the field when needed.

With seasons upon us, get those broadheads, whatever head you choose, super-sharp. If you're sharpening-challenged, consider a reputable replaceable-blade head. If you can sharpen, take the time to get`em sharp. Not just so-so sharp, but hair-popping, really sharp. And if you haven't considered a Rada wheelie sharpener, they are an amazing cheap little piece of equipment and small enough to take to the field in your pack.

Rada works very good on broadheads . But for knives it takes off a lot of metal. If your using an inexpensive knife, not a big deal but, I sure wouldn't like to use it on an expensive knife or one that has sentimental value.

For those that don't believe, put a piece of white paper under thr Rada while sharpening. When you get done, tap the Rada on the paper so you can see the shavings. Not bad mouthing it just talking about it's liabilities.

DarrinG, could you share your technique for using the Rada. Number of strokes? Amount of pressure? Do you finish up with something else? Thanks in advance.

If you have trouble getting your broadheads sharp, get a Rada. Anyone can get your heads razor sharp with a Rada.

The ONE issue that I had with the RADA sharpener in the beginning was that I was applying too much pressure to whatever I was sharpening, or touching up in it. The wheels do cut quickly. And normally, unless something is really chewed up, or you are starting "from scratch" it takes very little effort to restore an edge.

I picked that up from someone on here, after having one for years and it was kind of "Duh" moment for me.

saw1, not my video but this fella explains it much better than I could. Only difference I do is instead of tilting the Rada, I use a small c-clamp and clamp it to my workbench and tilt the broadhead, point down, rear up, and pull towards me.

I imagine you can get the three blade broadheads sharper with a RADA or an Accusharp than with the standard technique of putting the head on a flat surface such as a stone or file. That is necause

I imagine you can get the three blade broadheads sharper with a RADA or an Accusharp than with the standard technique of putting the head on a flat surface such as a stone or file. That is because the standard technique produces a 60 degree angle, 30 degrees per bevel, but the RADA or Accusharp will produce a 44-50 degree angle -- 22-25 degrees per bevel.

I guess we all like the Rada. I haven't found anything it will not put a razor edge on. And if you use bleeders (I do) they're not in the way while sharpening the head.

Thanks for posting the video. I've been using one for years. But I never get edge that will shave hair. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

saw1...you're likely using too much pressure as you finish up.

Saw1, Watch in the video how the guy starts out with some pressure and you hear that rough grinding sound. Once that grr...grr...grr stops and it sounds smoother, start lighting up on pressure as he does in the video, until the last couple passes are ever-so light. I have no hair left on my left arm from sharpening my heads last week!

I love the Rada, I never buy one at a time. My hunting buddies have one or two. I even give them for gifts, nobody needs to know they cost next to nothing, lol :)

Do they wear out fast?

No.

So what is the difference between the Stainless steel wheels and the hardened steel wheels that Amazon has for sale?

I feel I'm getting my knives and heads sharp, because of the ease that I can slice rubber bands and working in the kitchen. But that level of sharpness to shave hair eludes me.

I'm usually a hard sell but I just received a couple of Rada sharpeners and all I can say is WOW. Is so easy to use a caveman could use it and my broadheads are as sharp as they've ever been. I don't know about the shaving hair, I'm not going to give a deer a shave but is definitely sharp enough to get me a clean kill.

I got mine and ran my Bear Razorheads through it...Wow, just as you wallers said.

What is the difference in the stainless steel and the hardened steel wheels?

with very hard tempored knives ( I have 2 buck knives) that the Rada struggles with)

the carbide wheels on the ACE sharpener (works them over with ease)

Rada great on most everything else (really good on broad heads )

the secret is finishing off with LIGHT strokes at the end

I agree with Andy Man. It had a hard time with my Kershaw but awesome job on the broadheads.

I like the rada and keep one in my pack. \I have gotten some slick stuff from QVC I haven't tested yet.
