I have some finished arrows on their way and I have been searching different sites like 3 Rivers for weights to enable me to buy a 125 grain head and just add 25-75 grains to it according to how much I need for tuning. All I could find were weights to screw on the backs of the inserts. Since these arrows are already coming finished is their some other kind of weights or am I SOL without removing the inserts?

What arrow material are they?

If the inserts are epoxie or superglued in you may not be able to remove them If they are Gold Tips they make a tool to install the gold tip weights from the nock end The GT and most other weights are rather expensive in my book May be best just to order some field points of different weights. A dozen field points can be had for less than 5.00 You can get some 150,175&200 if you think you need that much and be only slightly higher than a dozen weights

IF they are carbon or aluminum, there is a wrench gold tip sells that allows you to add the weight to the insert after popping off the nock.

My arrows are 31.5 carbon express 250 with a 125 gr point and a 20 grain weight added to the standard (12 grain) CX insert.

The weights come in 10, 20 and 50. 3Rivers also sells 5 grain washers that are added between the point and shaft, which it is suggested only up to 3 washers are used.

They are Gold Tips and I did see the tool. I was just wondering if their was some type of collar that could be added on the front? I could go with a heavier head but I notice their are a lot of choices in the 125 grain heads. I thought of going the glue on route but that is just one more thing for me to possibly screw up lol.

You need to order a test kit of field points of different weights. They are much better than adding internal weight to the shaft.

Then you need to get your hands on a bow/arrow tuning manual from Hoyt or some such place and set your bow.

Don't pay much attention to the tnind advice you get on here, because it's too much, and too scatterd.

It doesn't matter how high someone elses nock point is, what their brace height is, how much center shot they have their sight window built out, or whether you shoot split finger, 3 under or both.

If you do that. you'll be fine.

The gold tips weights are able to screw into a variety of inserts. I prefer the weights over different weighted test points (which I have from 40 grains to 300 grains) because if there is a particular broadhead you like that [let's say] it's heaviest weight is 150 but your field point arrow tunes well at 300 grains upfront, you can mix and match; I.e. 150 gr broadband+75 grain insert+50 grain gt weight+20 gr gt weight and a 5 gr washer.

My arrows were tuning well with 145 grain to, but due to the fact I have limited 145 grain field points, a lot of 125 grain field points and broadheads, I just sent down to 125 grain points with a 20 grain screw in weight.

I do have the field point test kit on its way but I was just preparing in case it was a heavier point due to my .500 arrows. I'm guessing I will need a heavier tip but who knows it may tune at 125.

instead of buying GT weights I used brass screws and adjusted to weight I wanted. ground head down to fit inside shaft and cut length toweight I wanted. much cheaper and served purpose. just sayin

Sounds funny,,,and it might be,,,i shoot mostly wood but if i wanta add weight(cause not all points and shafts are perfectly the same weight)i glue bird shot in the points I reload and have 4,6,7 shot loose and available so years a go to get a perfect match weight i put a dab of glue on point or arrow shaft while there on scale till i get the weight i need If you have test kit coming and when you find what works and what you need its easy way to add weight If anything changes little heat and it comes right off

I use GT Trads on all of my hunting rigs. I have 125 and 150 grain broadheads and 50 and 100 grain brass inserts. Various combinations let me shoot 125,150,175,200,225 and 250 out front.

Big Jim's hot melt glue makes changing out the inserts easy yet strong.

Just found what I was looking for! Go to Kudu broadheads site and they sell screw on adapters. 50 grains only though.

It's easy to remove bronze and other inserts from carbon shafts. Mount a point, turn on the oven, heat the point. All glues will release when you heat enough and pull the point with a vicegrip.

Just heat the point---not the shaft We have a slide hammer-two pumps and the insert is out
