As I build more and more bows I have to wonder how bowyers like Kegan from Omega stains his risers without getting stain into the limbs. I stained my tips and overlays already which lay against glass so it is a natural barrier. But how do you guys stain the risers clear into the fades without getting stain onto the limbs?
Calligraphy pen?
Artist brush?

I'd guess they do it under vacuum prior to glue up...

I agree, that would be the way. They may be acquiring riser blocks that are pre treated. Somehow they get actionwood colored through and through.

But how do they clean up the glue lines after the fact without marring the stain?

That's my question, I might try to do it all with a calligraphy pen, try to get a fine edge then strain the majority with a q-tip

My guess is they reapply to stain to the areas that need it.
