Greetings fellow wallers, I don't post a lot but I always look forward to seeing bows made by fellow archers. Earlier this summer I finally got a drum sander to taper limb lambs and made some trilambs from osage, ipe and a bamboo backed yew that I made from a couple slats I had after z splicing. They range from 60" to 68" and have varying r/d curves except the yew which I glued flat. I'm not computer savvy and its a pain to upload pics on some sites. All of these are great shooters, any questions or comments are always appreciated. Thank you!

This BOB bow lifted a small splinter in the working part of the limb so I glued it down and added a rawhide patch between the nodes on both limbs. Thanks for looking!

Sweet!! I love me a bamboo backed R/d bow. Bamboo bellied too, for that matter. Very nice!! If I wasn't the poor boy that I am, I'd be more than interested.

I have one of James' "Outlaws". R/D, laminated bamboo back and carbonised bamboo belly. I got it 5-6 years ago and haven't hunted with another bow since getting it. I love the bow. James is a heck of a nice guy, to boot.
Like I said though, yours are some beautiful looking bows.

Nice bows Bob! I really like that flat, Yew longbow. Howard Hil would like it too, I'd bet.

they look great... I like the BBI profile and smaller grip, but the BBO looks good too... it's hard to beat bamboo backed osage for a dependable go-to bow... no worrying about warming it up or leaving it strung a few hours while hunting. I have shot one of mine hard since 2000 with no change in profile or the way it shoots.

Bob ... first of all .. beautiful bows, ... that yew bow looks a little bit special.
Are you happy to answer a few questions ... if so .. here goes
Bob could you talk us through your staining technique and how do you get those terrific dark accents into the nodes??
Thanks in anticipation

Nice work, Bob. I like that straight one on top best. But I'm a sucker for straight, simple bows.

Thank you for the nice words, Pearl that flat Yew bow proves to me anyway that sometimes we can get carried away with all the deflex and reflex we glue into these bows and sometimes a flat simple longbow if good quality wood is used will shoot just as good or even better than a R/D!
Hi Phil I sand the boo back with 3 grits of sandpaper starting with 150 until it gets white and smooth in color being careful to not sand down to the fibres and lightly sand the nodes.
Then i take a golfball size of old white t-shirt wadded up and another piece wrapped around it with a rubber band. I use fieblings dye, dip the t-shirt applicator in the dye and rub between the nodes with steady strokes adding additional coats on the nodes and blending them in with the applicator. after it dries you can go over it with steel wool to lighten between the nodes or in the case of the yew just leave it as is. You can use different colors just put the lighter colors first and blend darker colors with your applicator. After your done its easy to clean the edges with a cabinet scraper, The finish on the yew is truiol. Hope this helps Bob.
