I got this about a year ago. Cherry bark backed Yew, 70", horn tips, 55@27". Limbs are flat at the back and round at the belly I did some work on the shelf so I could shoot stiffer shafts, 50-55's work well. Haven't shot it too much until last week and went stumpin'. AT 70" it's longer than the 66" I prefer. Very smooth to anchor and absolutely dead in the hand. Not the fastest bow I own but it's just a pleasure to shoot. I've got a self made blind that I think would be good spot for this bow in the fall with some knapped heads and bamboo shafts so we'll see. The Cherry bark backing is just beautiful, leather grip wrapped with flat Rattan.

Almost looks like sinew backed in a couple of the photos. John has made bows for a very long time and the English Longbow style is always interesting and fun to shoot. ELB's weren't made to be the "fastest" bow you own, they are unique in their design and very capable. Pope and Young used ELB style bows and did very well with them. It's a beautiful bow and deserves attention. Good to see you shooting it.

Here's one unbraced,, not sure if the "string follow" is typical of the ELB design or not. It is a pleasure to shoot though, very accurate for me no matter how fast it is, my shafts are 50-55, 27 1/4" and average 535 grns.

John is one of my favorite people in the world, and builds some of the best selfbows you'll see.
