I am fortunate to have Mrs. Ishi in my life since 1980. Like a fine wine, she improves with age. Mrs. Ishi is about to hit the mark on a ferocious foam pig at our local archery club.

Miss Glenda has left us but that gal loved to shoot. She was real proud of this shot on a running javelina, she made the shot with her osage bow and a wood arrow.
How about a self portrait of herself shooting a bow. One of the original "shoots like a girl". I would ask if anyone knows who she is but her names on the self portrait.
I am married to the sweetest woman in the world, a very good hunter, an excellent shot, and an expert canoe paddler. I suggested this noon that we should take a picture of her shooting and post it. It is very difficult to even paraphrase what came out of her mouth.
My wife, the love of my life and soon to be mother of my first child, had no prior archery experience to our relationship. Her accuracy improves every time we shoot. She has great form, just learning distance judgment for the trajectory of her 25# bow.
That whole runs or throws like a girl thing had some weight to it at one time, but the shoots like a girl thing, now that is something I have never seen. Some of the purest shooters I have seen were girls. Form that sings.
My wife, Rachel. Not her best form (bad hip joint & on bad medication back then) but the only one available. At a Chamberlin Ranch shoot a few years ago, with her vintage Wilson Bros. recurve.
LADIES UP!!! Remember Diana the Huntress and the AMAZONS! Were Diana and Artemis the same archer but under different names? The LADIES can fling some arrows! Hopefully we get more photos of WOMEN handling a bow??
Thanks guys, I have 6 total Grand Children and one more on the way.
And truly they are Grand for a reason. A visiting evangelist at our church said that Grand Children are rewards from God for not killing our children while raising them, lol!
Bud B. A woman teaching mounted archery?! How cool is that?!! That is without any doubt one of 'THE' coolest things I have read in 14 years on this site. You are a fortunate man indeed. There ain't one woman in 100,000 that would actually do that. Waaaay cool!!!
It does, Grizz. If she lets go of the string, she'll probably knock out a few teeth as the quiver is first yanked forward until the strap tightens and then the bow backward out of her hand. :>)
Helen Shooting the 46# 66" Zebrawood Longbow I made for her. We were at the Fred Bear Archery "Proving Grounds" Archery Range in Gainesville..only 35 miles from our house.

That mounted archer upthread a ways has form that's about as bad as I have seen and must be using about a 10# bow to be able to pull it with her elbow at the south pole and pulling with the back of her wrist at that angle.
Actually in the above post the boy with the grey shirt and cap is my grandson then my grand daughter. I don't know who the kid in the dark blue shirt is.
I purchased a bear compound for my wife as a b-day gift last year. However, after shooting it a few times she's not too crazy about it. She has been peeking an interest for my lightweight recurves. This is her with my AMF era Wing Archery Swift Wing 30#@28, the second time ever picking up a recurve at 10 yards. Her DL is 24".
Great pics guys! Some of my fondest memories is when my daughter went to the shoot with me, now its the grandkids. Also the wife used to shoot and those was some good times for sure.
