Last step of my first bow. Clear coating. Very limited info out there. Thunderbird is what my friend uses. I am spraying it this afternoon at my dad's shop. He is a self employed wood worker with a very nice spray booth. I've used his ML Campbell products before with self bows. That's what I'll use for my laminated bow. I guess I just need to buy a spray gun and thunderbird clear.

Dissatisfied with my recent refinish of my HH Big 5(again) so I set up a 3' 9" x 3" Dia. piece of pvc, sealed on the bottom, threaded on top. Filled it 3/4 of the way with wipe-on poly(gloss). Dip half the bow at a time, pulling it out slowly, letting it drip dry. Perfectly smooth, even coverage. Menards had mail in $3 rebate on the wipe on poly. Works great for self bows and longbows.

Ive used the thickened polyurethane, and the regular and slray on poly- all good. The first 2 get you there quicker even with the more sanding req between coats.
Then i always finish with a fog finish holding the spray can back (so the poly forms little beads), let dry a little then fog again.... it gives you a nice matte finish.
