Just picked up an Indian Archery Pathfinder recurve bow, 40#. It is entire coated with some kind of fuzzy flocking like material that looks like a factory applied finish. Anyone know the history and whether this was factory???

Photo? I've personally never saw one. A picture would be a handy thing to discern one way or another....maybe. )

I don't think that Indian used flocking on bows. I did own a 60" Groves 3 pc. take down that had a green flocked handle and a bolt on quiver that was flocked in green.

Pearson had a take down that had a flocked riser. Think it was the Flame?? Would have been in the mid to late 70's I think??

The Pearson Flame and the Groves Flame were one in the same...a metal riser with limbs that just slipped into the ends. Not sure who made what on that bow. Yes it has a flocked riser.

And yes, Groves also made a Flame Hunter in a one piece bow.

Interesting. I don't recall seeing any flocked bows/risers other than the Bear T/D's. Didn't realize others did it too.

Did you pick this up from Craigslist from Marc in Eugene?

I have a friend in Coldwater, Michigan with a Indian Archery Deerslayer that is flocked. He said he saw one other, maybe a Cochise. I don't know anything about the factory offering this as an option.
