Finally got out to my target bales last night for the first time in a long while. Figured I would shoot poorly because I had been away so long, ended up not being as bad as I thought. I can honestly say I did not worry about a "good group" or a perfect arrow/bow combination or flawless arrowflight. I was just glad to be outside on a beautiful Virginia evening that was finally calm after a storm in more ways than one.

My beautiful wife of 30 years was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in September 2015. After months of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, Dr's visits, tests and a lot of waiting, hoping and praying, and expert, world class medical care from Duke University Cancer Center things are finally back to normal. She is back to her old self, enjoying life and our family and I am back in the yard for the 1st time in a long time in the stillnes of the late evening, just before dark, listening to the sweet sound of turkey feathers whispering in the wind towards the target.

I have learned to never take anything for granted and to enjoy simple things. Glad to be back, Ken

Thanks for the sobering reminder to be thankful for what we have---regardless of how inconsequential it may be. I remember hearing a sermon where the pastor said "When was the last time you thanked God...for a glass of water?" Perhaps your message was deeper than you initially realized, Mr. Ken Williams. God Bless You

I lost my Dad this year in March. I am also looking forward to the pleasure in the simple things of shooting my recurve after several years of taking care of my Dad and mom. I worked with dad on our farm every day and miss him dearly. I also don't want to take any day I have on this earth for granted. I want to go to the big traditional shoot in Pennsylvania because it's something I have always talked about but never done. I'm very glad to hear your wife is doing well and wish you the best.

Ken, you just described what everyone should be doing, enjoying what you love to do and forget about whether you have the correct spine arrow or the very latest in bow strings or the best bow. just get out there and forget about the everyday worries and be thankful for what you have, I'm a cancer survivor also, our daughter is going through chemo and radiation for her very aggressive cancer, the outcome looks pretty good.

It's so easy to get caught up in the daily crap that you see on TV and the newspapers, just stay away from that stuff for a few days and you will be surprised how relaxed you become......

Your news is great and I know exactly what you mean, God Bless you and your family and I hope you folks have many wonderful evenings like you described.....RonG
