I was just given an X26 Skakespeare Wonderbow, 58", 45@ 28. A dear old friend gave it to me, he's had it forever, probably bought it new. A few questions, I draw 29.5", will this bow handle that? It is also marked X-26. What exactly do I have? When was it made? What quality were these bows? When we they made? The bow is in like new condition, any info appreciated. What about arrow spine? I'm thinking a 2016. Thanks, Craig

It's a Necedah. It can be drawn to 29.5". They are excellent bows. If you post the serial number I or someone else can tell you when it was made. 2016 sounds like a good starting point with your draw.

All of Shakespeare's bows were called Wonderbow. The X-26 is a Necedah, there mid line (Grizzly) hunting bow and a very good one. Shakespear introduced the Necedah as a 55" bow in 1964. It went to 58" in 66 or 67. Spine works like any bow, you need to tune it in regard to your draw, arrows, etc., etc., etc. They are only called Wonderbows. 8^)

Honestly they are fine bows Craig, I've owned a bunch of them over the years. They were made in the Root factory and evolved from the Root Warrior. Check out shakespearearchery.blogspot.com/

This video was taken in 2010 at Shawnee State Park on a stump walk. It's short so won't take long to view. This was a 45+# Necedah and I had a 450# skinny low stretch string on it. Arrows were 2016 aluminum with 145 grain tips...and 28" long.

Is the glass on your bow black?

Its a great bow. Its my go to bow right now very snappy little bow like the roots are not as smooth shooting as a bear grizzly but awesome shooting bow with the rounded but flat grip.

I have two Necedahs - one 55" and one 58". I don't have a chrnongraph but, to my eye, they are the fastest bows I own. Also very easy to shoot well.

And, as for smooth, check the force draw curve on them, they are as smooth as any 58" bow in existence of like-design.
