This thing doesn't look all that great but it works pretty consistent.

Did you make the drum? It looks like something I wanted to make a few years ago, but never got around to it..

The three pictures are the lam i just ground. I'm showing the consistency of both sides of the lam the whole length down.

As a bowyer I am highly impressed! Price a thickness sander and your set up becomes even greater.

My friend McGyver/Renegade can build something out of any thing. I told you he mastered the leather work and was going to become a Bowyer next. I shoot one of his bows made before he went Hi-Tech, with a lam grinder. It is a shooter. They will only get better.>>>---> Ken

Jf already hooked. I've made a few bow but man it was difficult with the lam grinder I use to use. It was very inconsistent. I need to do some tapered lams now. Narrow end first with a tapered template???

From: Cowboy

Set up a modified shooting board and use a full size very sharp #4 or 5 bench plane. Depending on width you could set it up for a low angle #60. Just a thought

You can always follow that up with a flat sanding block. I usually use sandpaper on the angled bottom to keep the tapered lam from slipping.

I have a tapered lam as a template already.

My lamination/ edge grinder. Made from a old Craftsman 6x48 belt sander. JF

Yeas I watched your build along. I have a 436 belt sander. I need to do that with mine also and find a bigger sander. Killen two stones with one bird. You can do lams and sand the sides of the bows.

I run the taper sled and lam thru with thick end of lam first, mainly because if the lam is thin on the end, it won't catch and eat it so bad on the thick end......

From: Renegade
Date: 19-May-17

I have a tapered lam double sided taped to a board so I would push the tapered lam stuck to the board with my lam that's going to be ground thin side of the tapered first so that would be the thicker end of the lam I'm grinding, correct??

From: badger
Date: 19-May-17

I built my lam sleds out of 2 layers of 1/4" glass. I put spacers between the two ( wire of different thicknesses) at the right intervals to give me the taper I wanted. I did a .001 .002 .003 the glass is very flat

Yes renegade. JF

Badger do you have any pictures?

From: Renegade
Date: 19-May-17

Bodymanbower, that's what I thought. Thank you.

From: 2 bears
Date: 19-May-17

Bo, You got it but you probably should use that lam to make a more solid sled with a little lip on the back to push the lam. It will be more rigid and flat. Using the lam--2 thin pieces are more likely to flex and cause a thin spot. Just my 2ยข worth. If you are any thing like me sooner or later that lam will break when you are in the middle of a build. Kennym does some fine builds on Trad Gang and you know bodymanbowyer here.I like Badger's idea too.>>---> Ken

Actually, for that style of grinder, it's purdy. When I use that kind of rig, it is just a cleaned up 2x2 and a pair of clamps.
