Real relaxed event. Last year I attended for the first time and was really surprised how good the event was. Frendly folks and a great atmosphere. A good chance to shoot against some of the best shooters in the world and see how good you are or what you need to do to get better. Camping available and the ranges are real good ( not easy but very shootable). Fot the serious shooters this shoot is anmust

Are there a lot of vendors at this shoot? I cant find much info on that. I'm going to try to make it this year but I'm not sure If I will be able to get off work or not.

We usually have around 15 or so, not a huge number of vendors but some quality ones. Three Rivers/Lancaster/Big Jims/CD Archery/Rinehart/Dryad bows/Just to name a few off the top of my head that are always there.[Sorry if I missed some]. Ended up with the quality inn right off 24 highway. Exit 24 i believe. Not sure if that was the best pic, but they had rooms to spare and only a few minutes from twin oaks.

Yep they seem to be fine, never heard any complaints Trevor. Got 3 of the 4 ranges laid out Saturday and plan on start setting targets Today and tomorrow and hope to have them all set by the end of this coming weekend. We made a few changes that I think yall will like. Pappy

I'm going to try for that Saturday. 3 hour/one way drive for me BUT I think I can cut that in half. go up to LBL and camp Friday night, leave the wife with the camper, drive in, shoot, drive back that evening. LBL is approx. 1-1/2 drive/ one way to there. She's happy(maybe), I'm happy. :>)

How does the shoot work? Is there a winner after the 40 yards competition or does the competition continue into the shoot offs?

Jim < you can start shooting everything Fri, Team stuff starts fri after noon around 5 his her team girl teams then Sat you can shoot everything and shoot downs start around 5 for self bow and hunter challenge . sunday they peer group you for finals early, awards after that around 1 Hunter Challenge is open if your not in top ten on sunday. you can shoot hunter Challenge as many classes as you want but have to shoot the first one for shoot off score. they take top 32 men and the top 16 ladies for hunter challenge shoot off. let me know if you need more info Cal

Jim, There are awards for your class in the hunter challenge. The top 32 men and sixteen women is for a prize shoot off. You don't have to do the shoot off.

I believe registration is available starting Thursday.

"How does the shoot work? Is there a winner after the 40 yards competition" Do you mean after 40 targets? You shoot 40 targets by Saturday evening. You can shoot 20 each day or all in one day. The top ten shooters in each class shoot Sunday morning. You will be assigned a peer group and target to start on. Shot gun start. I think the time to meet Sunday at registration is 8 a.m.

Pre register Thursday 5-7pm, ranges open at 7am Friday morning, you will shoot 2 20 target courses for the IBO, all Friday or Saturday or split them 1 per day. Top 10 in each class after 40 will shoot 20 more Sunday morning for the Championship. Hunter Challenge is 25 targets. There will be awards for the winners in each Class, if you want in the 3Rivers shoot down Saturday evening you must have you card in by I think 4pm sharp Saturday. The top 32 men and 16 women will have a shoot off for Cash award. Also the top 10 Self bow folks will have the C/D archery/Arvin Weaver self bows/Twin Oaks Bow hunters shoot down for cash at 5pm Saturday, 3 Rivers shoot down at 6pm if all goes as planned.$1,000.00 each. Only the first round is used for the shoot down with the first class you shoot if you are shooting multi Classes in the Hunter Challenge. You can only shoot 1 Class in the IBO. We will have a time event calendar posted around the place when you arrive or just ask someone in an Orange shirt and they will direct you to someone that knows if they don't. See yall in a week. I just found out I need new brakes on my truck before I tow the camper this weekend. went and got the parts during lunch. not looking forward to the brake job but looking forward to Saturday.

In the hotel, already met a couple stick shootings staying down the hall. Getting excited. Hotter than heck here even at 11pm. Will be there early for sure.

Yeah, I shot this morning, early. Really struggling--stuck the place up. :^) It's 4 p.m. local time and I just got back to the motel; truck thermometer said 98 degrees.

Met a lot of folks and everyone seems to be having a great time anyway.

I shot the Hunters Challenge Saturday morning. Target 25 something was tapping on my foot. It was sweat dripping from my shirt sleeve! Pappy, you guys did a great job. Enjoyed it.

Okay, y'all post some winners and scores for those of us who couldn't make it. Hope to see everybody next year, it's already on the calendar (wherever it's going to be).

Such a great shoot. Will probably come down next year for the tennessee classic. Had a blast. Stayed 12 minutes from the club in a very nice hotel (cause I like a shower and a 60 degree hotel room after a hot day) that was very affordable. Another 15 minutes into springfield where we found great food and anything we needed at the local wal-mart. Cant wait to do it again. Perfect venue to meet great folks, or bring your family for a weekend of shooting.

I hated missing this one this year.....already have room booked for next year's IBO at Pipestem Resort Park. July 20-22, 2018. Marsha

I want to give a shout out to Pappy and the crew on putting on one of the best event's I have ever been too. The shoot was great, the people awesome, the club staff friendly and helpful and they had a great many things set up and went out of their way to help and accommodate people on record hot days. I was so impressed I am going to drive back sometime for another shoot they have. KUDOS

Good numbers, a little down from last year.We had 231 on the IBO side and I think 314 on the hunter challenge, some shot both so after some figuring about 400 total shooters , that ant bad for a week like we had. I've been putting my name in the bucket every year at the 3 Rivers booth. Johnathan Karch called me this morning and my name was picked for the $100 gift card. I have to see what I need, but just might spend it on my grandson!

The support, and donations, 3 Rivers provides every year at the World shoot is very well appreciated.

Heat didn't bother us too bad, son and I shot all 65 targets Saturday, qualified for the spot shoot and the hc shoot. Pappy's crew had a lot more water stations on the course this yr and that made all the difference in the world.

Was a great shoot pappy and the crew had plenty of water out. The hc shoot off was awsome. I didn't shoot good friday. I had a good day sat. But didn't make the shoot off. We had a great time.

Anyone plan to go to W.V. next year? Nancy reserved us a room at a Mckeever lodge yesterday. Some rooms for that date were already unavailable. Have no clue where the shoot location would be from there.

Whew at $226 a night Ill be staying a little further away.

I'm going to be staying 13 miles from the shoot next year (unless I get a camper before then). Microtel Inn & Suites and 3 nights is $215 plus tax. Heck don't need anything fancy. Microtels that I've stayed in before are ok.... It's in Princetown. I can't see spending that's much on one night but I will for 3 nights. Being retired does have some drawbacks. Hahahaha.

As of today, Pipestem St Park campground has vacancies for July 18 - 22 next year. Not all sites are suitable for RVs..

FYI I was wrong about the price. The Lodge website is a bit confusing it adds all your days up and calls it a "Daily Rate" it was around $115 a day. Not cheap but not impossible if you start saving a year ahead lol.
