I recently got this Bear Grizzly that had sight pins on it. I'm thinking on just leaving them on the bow. Because the pins appear to be period correct. Does this hurt the value of this bow?

Don't see why it would. The holes are there any way and that's what affects value. I'm not sure that sight is "period correct" though.

The bow is from the 1950s while the sight appears to be from the early 1960s,...still though, same period in archery/bowhunting. I'd leave it on, the next guy can remove it if he wants to.

No, not any more than the holes it created

The holes are in the front on this bow.

That sight could well be period correct since it is made for mounting on the sight window...back or belly. There were a lot of advancements in just the last couple years of the 50's in both bow design and accessory availability. Anyway, if it isn't, it's dang close and likely no one will ever know.
By 1955, there were over a dozen companies making sights for bows, so take that for what it's worth. The holes are already there and someone may be a collector of sights, much to the chagrin of the nonbelievers.

Tonto, you obtained the bow with the sights on it and didn't think it hurt the value so I am sure someone else would do the same. I would leave them and if you are an instinctive shooter and want to shoot the bow just unscrew the sight pins so they don't bother you..
Good looking bow.

Both bows were given to me. I wasn't sure if sights hurt the value or not. I'm sure there are many different opinions on this too. My gut said leave them be. I was going to ask this question on my last thread "Old bows and Fly rods". But the thread got pulled for some reason. That I'm unaware. Thanks for your positive input Jon. "shoot straight"

Yes and no.
The fact that holes were drilled into it would detract value for a collector.
Since that bow has little or no collector value (IMHO anyway), doesn't really matter. But yes, there's probably someone out there who desperately wants a pristine one of those.
Personally, I'd just enjoy them.
Viper out.

tonto I looked thru my catalogs for that site but couldn't find it. I have a few others to check and if I find it I will contact you.
One bow I don't have is that Kodiak Special. Everyone that has them really like them.

Viper,(IMHO) Your right and your wrong. Not all of us on here collect high end collectable bows. Some of us collect bows just for hunting or target shooting. Both of these bows fit nicely into that category. You were "spot on" though in just enjoying them. Thanks for the input Viper.
