Well after years of wanting to try one I was able to pick up a new to me black widow longbow. It is the LAG model. I can't wait to try her out!! It's 66" and 54#@28"

Those bows live up too their name. They "Lag" behind all others!! Sorry but as far as Widows go, they were terrible performers. Shawn

Well geez Scoobs!!!

I didn't think they were that bad. The grip was fantastic, bow was quiet with no shock, and very accurate for me. Unfortunately, the near 60# wore me out and I sold it, but I'd buy another if one around 48# showed up.

That didn't take long for that green eyed monster to rear it's ugly head.

Slayer, good for you on a great bow, Widows are great shooters.

Thanks. I can't really afford a new one so I was very happy to get this one!

excuse shawn he just thinks he knows everything. black widows are one of the best there is. after many years of a lot of different bows it is my go to. and best company to deal with and, made in the USA.

You gotta be doing something right to stay in business 60 years building bow and be popular all that time. You'll love it. They don't make a bad bow.

Cool looking bow! What are the limb lams...anybody know?

From: boatbuilder

I have shot several over the years, I shoot mostly straight limb longbows now and they preformed just as good as any other longbows in my stable would have one in 50-55 lbs but the ones I have found were overpriced in my cheap mind.

I don't know about chronograph based performance, but I do know that I shot one a LOT when they came out, and for me that was one of the easiest to shoot bows I ever picked up. And I've picked up a BUNCH of them. And I'm not really what you would call a BW fan. But not a BW hater either.

fdp, "But not a BW hater either." I'm with you. Have you wondered where that comes from? Maybe these are the same people that get a kick out of telling someone that's excited about the new truck they just bought how ugly the color is, or those wheels suck. They may think they're being honest, but actually lack tact and compassion. I've seen threads of bows guys are excited about that I don't come close to liking the looks of, or ones I would never consider owning. That doesn't mean I'm going to make a derogatory post about their choice. Either say something nice, or nothing at all.

It's no big deal. I'm just glad to live in America where we can all share our honest opinions. I am pretty excited about this bow. I wondered what the woods were myself.

Good for you Travis. When you find a longbow, or any bow for that matter that you like, it doesn't matter the brand or style. Shoot it and enjoy it. Gil

Forgot to ask in my P.M., where do you live in Indiana?

From: rick allison

Never shot their longbows but shot Widdas for years. Great company with awesome customer service!

I relegated my last one to my son...can't handle 65lbs anymore. Been shooting a couple customs for the last couple years...1 recurve & 1 longbow. Love em.

Covington Indiana.

Slayer, I had an all black SB takedown recurve some years back. Took the black paint off and it was a very nice bow under that. Just FYI if you were curious. Nice bow.

First off, bigdog has no clue and second I am not a Widow hater, I just know the LAG was replace with the PL which I owned one of the first proto-types made and was told by Ken Beck that due to the lack of performance and the very sluggish sales it had too go. Never said I was not happy for the guy just stated a fact about the bows. I have probably owned and sold or traded more Widows then most people have owned bows. Shawn

Scooby, and the reason you felt the need to dis on a guy's new to him bow was....?

From: stykman

Travis. I've learned that if you post something on this site, no matter how innocuous, you will get some negative comments. Comes with the territory. I'm sure if you shot a certain someone's favorite bow you wouldn't like it either. But probably wouldn't be so blunt about it. Enjoy that LAG.

Like I said it's all good. Everyone is unique and we all enjoy different things. The cool thing for me about this bow is that it came from my best friends dad. He has always been a positive role model in my life. I feel proud that I get to shoot and hunt with this bow. Thanks guys. If any of you have any arrow suggestions I would love to hear them.

Here's a pic of my MB\MA...it too started out life all black,...it's my favorite bow as of late and I shoot it better than any....I will be in a treestand this fall...I love Black Widow bows.!

From: bigdog21

Slayer the bow is probably grey bark on one side and autumn oak on the other as the lag was sold this way the LAG and LBS are the same bow. and both were top performers in there day and still great bows today. BW has never put out a bad bow. and most a built to last

Let us know how it shoots for you once dialed in to your liking. Maybe someone is talking smack about your bow because they secretly want it, and trying to program you to think it sucks before you shoot it, so they can take it off of your hands cheap.

From: Slayer

Well she shoots great! Smooth and accurate. I am using some 2016 Easton aluminum with 125 grain. They are grouping great however I think they may be a little stiff.

From: Bushytail Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Nice bow. Are you gonna take the black off to see what the wood looks like or keep it black?

From: Slayer
Date: 30-Apr-17

Right now I think I will keep it black, however it is tempting.
