Gluing up my first bow in the morning and was wondering if i have to sand my laminate wood ..i ordered it from Omc bow supply ..And if so what grit of sand paper do i use . Thank you.

You talking a glass bow with epoxy? It's been years since I ordered lams from OMC, but no. It should already be adequately prepped for glue up. Don't finger it all up. If you do, degrease with denatured alcohol and allow to dry for an hour or two before gluing.

Don't sand just clean with a stiff bristle brush some of the experts will chime in soon and give you some good advice. Rick

I always sand, the wood oxidizes, which probably doesn't harm a thing, but I just do sand with a flat block. 100 ish grit, depends what kind it is. You want sharp fresh paper that has lots of points, and visibly cut. That tend to be finer than a lot of people consider, but not so fine you aren't apparently doing anything.

If your lams are fancy and oily, then you want to sand an degrease.

No, don't sand. Blow off any dust or lint and keep your oily fingers off it. If you want better advise ask Jim Belcher the guy you got your wood from. Or ask Bingham or Big Jim. I would just blow it off and brush with a nylon bristle tire brush,a new one. Unless it's an exotic wood, that's oily. Then wipe down good with denatured alcohol, then blow and brush. JF
