Anybody own a Bruin bow? I've never seen one, are they any good?

Yes I have one, good shooting bow. I have been to his shop and shot several of his bows all were nice shooters. Nice guy also, no complaints here.

I have shot one but do not own it, with that said it was a great shooting bow for me.

They are one of the best bows that were ever made. Just as good as any recurve made.

I own two that are about 20 years old. one I purchased new from mike, the other I purchased used. they fit me, are well made and perform as good as any.

I used to have one that Mike made to my specs and it was as good as any bow I ever owned, and better than most. It was also a very fast shooting but stable bow. Only sold it because the weight was too much.

I have never shot or seen one in real life, but have only heard good things about them. Plus it is a cool name.

Mike builds an excellent bow, very fast and stable. I have the Bruin Master since early 1991, 57#@30". I don't shoot it much now due to shoulder and arthritis problems. Prefer shooting 35-50# at my draw length.

You won't find too many Bruin bows in the classifieds!

In the 90s they were the really top shooters fast and accurate, I had many of them and I still have 3. I don't own any newer one but knowing Mike I am sure they are still great bows a fairly priced

I had Mike build me one years ago and was my only recurve. Great guy to deal with and it was a great bow until it was stolen. Tried to get it replaced and he wasn't building them anymore. If they are building again I would try another

Mike had some extremely serious health issues that set him back for a while. As far as I know he's back to making bows again. I've had a couple of his bows and they're real shooters.

I tried to contact Mike but had some difficulty. Must have been during his illness. All reports i heard of his bows were great. If your keen for a Bruin give it a go i doubt you would be dissappointed.

My friend Mike is having one built by Steliga, Can't wait to see it. So yes he still builds bows.

Yes, I'm a happy owner!

When I decided to get serious with traditional I went to Mike. I already had a bunch of stickbows from pre wheel bow days but I heard too many good stories about Bruin. I got a new Huntmaster 3 piece takedown and have three different weight sets of limbs for it. Outstanding bow!

Two years ago I wanted to get serious with a longbow and went back to Mike for a longbow but that didn't happen. He didn't have any in stock and was not building (at that time) any longbows then so off to Kalamazoo I went for a longbow. Mike's medical issues slowed things up for awhile but he is still building quality bows.

A couple weeks I went to a trad shoot. I was shooting my longbow and took my Bruin Huntmaster along for someone else to shoot. When I finished with the longbow I decided to give my Bruin a try. I hadn't launched an arrow from it since 2015. It was sweet and it impressed me again. I'm thinking about going back to it and then I think I should sell it and stick with a longbow. I'm afraid I will regret selling it if I do.

You won't be disappointed with a Bruin!

Used my one piece, 60", 74lb at 26 inches, served me well for 15 years or so, including in South Africa, 2004. (use Frydelund timer to achieve full draw) It pushed my 160 gr. snuffers through kudu, wildebeest and warthog. Mike is a craftsman that stands behind his bows, top of the line.

He might still have a form that was way ahead of its time. It was like at least a hex5 curve. He called it the deflex express. Hell for all I know he still makes it.

It was a good bow but the trouble I had was getting a string on it. With a carbon build I bet it would be one of his best.

I had a TD when they were more square looking. One I wish I never sold. I traded back the deflex express for that one.

I never owned one but have one that my brother, who passed away from a tree stand fall, bought used. He was very impressed with it. I'm right handed so I can't shoot it. It's a left handed one piece 56" @ 28 Huntmaster Spl. Nice bow.

Mike Steliga has been building great bows for a long time. Back in the day he was the only "trad" bowyer who advertised in Bowhunter magazine. I have been in his shop in Antigo and can speak highly of this man. If your into, smooth stable recurves, look into the bows Mike makes.

Bye for now
