That long box we all wait for was laying on the garage floor. Like a kid on Christmas morning I ripped it open. Better than I anticipated, I'm smiling from ear to ear. I believe it's a 59 or 60, 62" 42# beaty. Now I have to clean her up and make her shine like new. Here are a couple pictures.

Very nice. I have a small tip RWH, but the riser doesn't look like yours. The wood in your bow riser is gorgeous. I know you will enjoy it. Great shooting bow. Gil

Great bows. Shot my first deer with one.

Absolutely one of the most gorgeous pieces of Brazilian Rosewood I've ever seen in that handle.

Early 1962 for that one. Prior to that they used Maple and then Maple with Rosewood stripe.

Use a properly made B-50 string on that beauty, get the brace height at 8" and enjoy! I'm envious!

Thanks. Every once in a great while there are good deals on epay. I got lucky.

Regarding cleaning use a non snag cloth and a household cleaner like Windex Universal. Do not use any solvent nor abrasive item. That bow is a very rare item and should be preserved as such in its current state.

Very Rare? I knew there were less 62" than 58" but I didn't know they were concidered rare.

Thanks, Tony

I think very rare...and to have the heart-and sapwood in the same riser is the icing on the cake. You won't see another like it that's as nice.

I was wondering what kind of wood it was.

Had 52" and 58 inchers.The 52 incher is a superb little bow!

Never had a 62".Man that's a sweet bow!I bet it shoots great.

It is shooting nice. Quiet and light. It would probably cost $400 or more to have this thing built today. I usually shoot one of my old Bears every morning, not today.

The very first Red Wings were long like 68". There is one for sale on eBay right now. When they started calling them Red Wing Hunters they were mostly 62". This was before 1959. Then the 58" length was introduced and gradually that length became the norm. By about 1962 very few 62" RWH were made, later years they were only custom orders.
