Need some opinions on the Easton Axis or FMJ, do not know much on carbons with weight forward. My draw is 27" and the recurve 46# and the bowyer recommends 12gr per ", I normally shoot a 125 gr Snuffer and need to know where the assume front weight added to get a effective flight. Would I start out with a 100 gr weight or less, I know it will take my own tinkering but would like to know a starting point. Would either Axis 300 or FMJ be the recommended shaft, any opinions will be appreciated.

46# at 28 or your draw of 27 , what brand of bow and do you know if its ff string are dacron b-50, sounds like you are new to trad. bow ? carbons can be tricky for some and you will get a bunch of different setups and yes most will work. if I was starting. I would go with the aluminum 1916 cut 29 and 125 tip would be a good starting point to learn. its a pretty tough arrow and easy to tune to your bow, nothing wrong with carbons but to many variables for the new guys, and confusing for many. nothing set in stone like the older aluminums or wood the 1916 will be a sure thing.

Agree that .600s will likely work, though depending on point weight, .500s may as well. My fletched .600 black Axis cut to 29inches BOP weigh 240 grains, .500s are 270 grains. Inserts are about 16 grains, and aluminum adaptors about 30 grains. Add 125 for point weight and your arrow will end up at 401 grains with .600s ( 8.9 gpp) or 430 grains with .500s (9.5 gpp).

If you want to get to 12 gpp, not gpi, would need an arrow of 540 grains. Can achieve that with some combination of steel adaptors -- 75, 100 or 125 grains, brass inserts, 50, 70 or 100 grains, or heavier Snuffers, 145 or 160 grains. That will also increase your FOC, too, of course, a good thing.

100gr brass insert in and keep your 125s and get 600s and you should be more than good.

I am very familiar with Morrison limbs and I've shot Axis since they first came out. I would recommend a 28" Axis arrow, 500 spine to start. I suspect you could get away with 175 up front but you can always play with point weight. With the Max 4 limbs you will find that an increase in spine to be the norm. I would not be surprised if you could shoot an Axis in 400 spine. The spine for a FMJ won't change but you will be adding about 50 grains of total arrow weght. Currently I am shooting Max 4 limbs at 50# @ 28" and am shooting 29" FMJ with 200 grains up front.
