Just wondering who has one of the latest Blacktail longbows, either one piece or take-down? I have a Blacktail on order and am very interested. I have always had recurves but want a longbow. Curious as to the shooting characteristics and looks. Please post pictures if you have one. Thanks!

I'm a recurve guy too, Blacktail recurves in particular. The new three piece longbow really has my attention though.

I've been thinking about ordering the three piece Columbian. I'm just waiting until I hear some reviews. I currently have the one piece Columbian and it's a good shooter so I imagine the three piece will hold its own.

I would buy one simply based on my phone conversations with Alan and Norm. They only build great bows.

I have a 3pc on order, so can't comment just yet. In my discussions with Alan, the design of the 3pc lead to a modification in the 1pc. My 1pc isn't the same as the one being produced now . . . I do know my 1pc is very smooth and quiet, and like with all of the Blacktails, are built to perfection!

I shot one a couple weeks ago here in town. Absolutely gorgeous bow. I shot about six arrows is all so hardly a comprehensive test, but it was dead quiet and dead in the hand. Very nice!! Looking forward to seeing the takedown.

X2 Stringmaker. I'm a longbow fan and had been waiting a long time for them to build one in a t/d. On the build list now and looking forward to it!

That's it! I'm just going to have to man up and call tomorrow, and order.

Well, this is an older thread. So, I will say that I now have owned a one piece longbow for a number of months and love it! It shoots smooth, quiet and nearly as fast (in my judgement) as my recurve at the same weight. The truth is I have never owned a bow that I could shoot so well! It is forgiving to an amazing degree. I like it so much I now ordered a take-down longbow. They, like all Blacktails have proven to be amazing bows!

I posted last summer the picture of my new BT longbow! Love this bow! I own 3 recurves and ordered this longbow because I am a BT junkie! It shoots great, smooth draw, fast and just a GREAT bow! I managed to shoot a antelope with it last fall and a buck here in WI with it! If and when you get one, you'll fall in love with the workmanship and looks! Its a GREAT BOW! Norm and Alan are both Great People to work with! Met both of them a the BPS Banquet in Madison, WI and now know why thier bows are great! Great People!

Enjoy Your New Bow and Good Luck

this fall!

PS: Mine is 64", 54# @ 28"!

Can anyone compare to other 3 piece hybrids, such as ACS, Silvertip, Morrison, Robertson, etc?

Hi Paul, At PBS I should have brought my Morrison and a chrono. Bet we could have found some spot to shoot. Any chance you'd come to Ojibwa's shoot?

I was contemplating a Blacktail, but went with a Raptor, because Border could make the grip almost ILF sized. Blacktail was a little too beafy for me. That said I'm still interested, they are beautiful.

Paul, what's your poundage. My Morrison is 50 at 29, and 53 at 28.
