Shawn Carbon Tech makes one called the Mckinney. Carbon Force STL Hunters spine @ .520. Both are pretty light weight. I picked up some of the STLs on sale recently, at 30" with a 175 grain point they fly Nice from my 45&46# recurves. Very flat, no hold over at 30 yards.

Thanks guys, once I typed it in right I found some. .520 is a bit too stiff for what I want to try and the .570's may work. I found some old .550 Carbon express which they denote as .550 spine but only a dozen and I am looking for more to run some experiments. Trying to find some others as well instead of the generic .400,.500,.600 and so on spines. I may try the carbon 1's but they are skinny and I wanted .246 ID shafts. Thanks! Shawn

Lancaster let's you search by shaft size. There is some 550 Victory trads. Skinny shafts but they might have some others you want.

Easton used to make the .520 Redlines. Small diameter shaft that flew great from 50# bows. Also, Easton made some of the Autumn Orange 5mm shafts in .520 spine as well. You don't see many of these around now since they make more of the .470 spined 6mm shafts.

I know the frustration, but you don't really need them. You can get 500's or 600's to work with the right combination of components and bow setup.

I have and use Easton ACC 3-18/560,a .560 spine arrows.Alittle on the high side of cost but an excellent arrow.I use Easton half/out inserts and 17/64" points a skinny arrow.

It is not an issue what I can get to work I can get any one to work. I have been tuning and experimenting with carbons for at least 15 years. I like giving advise and when guys are shooting bows that are around say 47-53#s they are stuck in the midde. A .500 spine unless left long or loaded real heavy up front won't be great and a .600 may end up being a bit light as far as weight or even a bit weak due to someones draw length being long. I want to experiment to find combos that work for guys who are in the middle. Thanks! Shawn

I've never gotten a .500 to tune with any bows in that weight having to go to .400 to get enough arrow weight.

Sorry, but I disagree they are "stuck" in the middle. You have tons of options if you want them.

A person would only be stuck in the middle if they were unfamiliar with how to increase or decrease spine with methods other than point weight. Such as increasing or decreasing side plate thickness and so on. 1/8" od side plate adjustment will EASILY make up the difference in .050 of deflection of any shaft material. And in fact that may be too much.

You have to be shooting target archery at a pretty elite level to need .050 spine breaks. If even then.

Not so, been experimenting with carbons for a long time and for truly perfect flight you can easily get stuck in the middle. I laugh when I go to shoots and see what most guys consider good arrow flight. There is a reason Easton used to make and still makes aluminium in so many spines because there is a perfect spine. Guys ecsp. the newer guys do not want to mess with building out side plates and such, they want an arrow they can put X grain of point weight on and shoot it and it fly perfectly. I am working to that effect. Shawn
