I have a few sets of ugly ILF Limbs....

Flat Black Gaffers Tape comes in 2"x 30-60 YARD rolls for $10-$30. The more expensive versions are a little nicer/thicker usually but to black a out bow, it probably doesn't matter.

You just need a fresh razor blade to trim it up. Doesn't leave nasty residue.

I usually have Progaff on hand as I am a musician and recording engineer. It lasts a long time on the bow. And you can replace it in a few minutes if needed.

I just leave the string grooves and limb fittings uncovered

Ok, but for me, If I'm gonna "tape" some limbs, I'm gonna use like, HS Camo tape or something like Limbsations or whatever. Something better to look at. Unless YOU really WANT flat black. To each, his own.

Not sure what you mean by ugly, but I don't think the tape will make it any prettier. )) Heck you can just use wide masking tape and then paint the tape. Less weight and does the same thing.

I've used several sets of Limbsations. I always end up pulling them off. I have some black limbsations on the belly of some limbs right now and Gaffer tape is significantly less reflective than Limbsations. I have a Kuiu pattern on the back of those limbs. Maybe I am getting old...but I think I prefer flat plain colors.

A few months back, I painted some limbs. But then I decided to sell them and had to clean off the paint :)

Even walmart sells duct tape in colours including Disney, tartan, and camo, and it is easy to get camo hockey tap. The masking tape suggestion is probably the best.

I am painting my Axiom Plus limbs with Krylon Dual Bond Satin Black to see how it holds pup. I have a blue riser coming in the mail that will probably get painted.

I like some of the Flat Gray finishes that are coming out lately.

For painting you could always try Plastic Dip paint. I believe Home Depot sells it now.

I've ben curious to try it...Some people have done risers with it and it has held up. It is not super durable, but i can be peeled off if you don't like it.

I like the masking tape suggestion too. Maybe even the green easy-remove stuff, (easier than the blue painter's variety) and then paint it out.

However all those low-tack tapes will stick harder with time. I am having a heck of a time getting duct tape or some other tape residue off an old bow. It is tenacious and resists every safe solvent that I know.

Sorry, don't want to hijack thread. Yes, the masking tape idea is great!

That's the point of Gaffers tape. It is used on movie, music, theater and photo equipment and cables because it doesn't gum up like duct tape.

When bands play on TV shows, they often blackout logos on amps and drums with it. Microphone cables get temporarily taped down on floors etc

I have worked on some TV shows and we never used gaff for those purposes. We always used black paper tape (like regular masking but black) We would use gaff for strength and hard uses but it sticks much harder than masking and can damage delicate surfaces when pulled up.

Hah! Some one must have complained :) I did a bunch of the late night shows in the 90's/early 2000's and they taped everything...mics too
