Got a beautiful piece of Osage from a fellow in MO. Managed to work this guy out of it. Came with a bit of deflex in the lower limb and substantial reflex in the upper. I flipped the tips with some dry heat. Buff horn tip overlays and a Strunk handle. Came in right about where I wanted for weight. 66"ntn and #53@28. Lower limb has slight propeller but shoots very well. Maintaining 3/4" reflex so far. Thanks for looking!

Aaron you knocked it out of the park man that's great. I have a piece of Osage from a dead tree that's calling my name to start cutting. Mine won't be near as nice as that you have real talent.

Mark and Jeff: My usual response to those statements is "anyone can do it with some practice." However, I've seen a lot of guys lately, turning out really sweet little bows without a lot of attempts under their belts. I think with all the info out there nowadays it has really shortened the learning curve for those who can weed through it. Shaving wood really helps get me through the winter without losing my mind;-)

I'm loosing mine here lately. I can't build or shoot any real bows. But I can Crest and build some arrows. Can hardly wait to get back in the swing. Reading and looking at you guys stuff will get me by for now. Thanks for sharing. JF

2 bears: The crest is inked with India ink. Arvin: I may give that a try. Always afraid of pulling the reflex out, though I've seen it done properly, where it does not. It's a fine line;-)

That's practically all I got done in the shop yesterday, aligning staves and blanks. The more pronounced the deflex, reflex, or recurve, the more critical it is and more difficult to get just right.

Thanks woodshavings. I was just curious I am not that artistic. I don't believe I would have the nerve to work a stave down that narrow and thin either. I would be so afraid it would break. I may look in to a semi finished one. I wouldn't know any thing about picking out a stave or getting it started. I was talking to Arvin about one of his so called "rejects" before he left for OJAM. I'm a hack compared to many of the bowyers on here. I have learned things slowly with a lot of poor to mediocre results. Just now figuring things out;-) Others seem to learn quicker, thank goodness:-)
