I have two sets of Long limbs that are 35# (Axiom +) and 45# (WW Carbon Foam) on my 17" Tradtech riser.
I am interested in picking up a cheap 25" riser like the SF Premium or even a Cartel. I have an extra Centerest already so for the price of a riser and a string, I have a 'new bow'.
Any insights? I would be getting it mostly for fun but might try to set up an RU rig.

If you can take a little time you can find some really good deals on some nice used risers. Keep an eye on the FITA Classifieds on ArcheyTalk and ebay. There's a Hoyt Horizon and a PSE available now.

Yeah, I just picked up their SF Axiom Plus deal for 54.80. Nice riser. They lightened it this year, which is not really an advantage to me, I want as stiff as I can get, and as strong and as heavy. These are stock from last year, I think. Last year was a good year.
Shipping is like 7 bucks. A little more to me in Canada.

I've been looking on eBay but I don't know what to watch out for. Jim, thanks for the FITA classifieds tip. I don't hang out over there and had forgotten about it. That Horizon could be a good deal with it's accessories.
I would just have to get over having a riser that isn't wood or black :)

Alternative Sports is 100% correct and the shipping is way better then you think. You can get a real nice long 25" ILF riser for under $200. The Flute risers are actually real nice, the Axiom not so much as they are not very strong. Shawn

If you are going to 200, I would go all the way to a G1 at 380, that is rocking deal, even though nearly twice the price. Arguably the best riser currently made.
The Axiom is good to 40", and the heaviest limbs that will go on mine are my 37s, at 29". Depending on factors, the 45# is probably too much.
That said, the G2 is only 260. In conversations, the designer has not really said that there was a huge difference. So if you really want the best, and a lot lower price, that might be as close as you can get. I am not really sure what they mean by forged, it looks finish machined. There are many parts, on bikes for instance, that are stronger when forged in aluminum, than cast or machined.
Another plus for either of these is that the matt finish that is available gives a head start if you fall in love and want to use it for hunting as well.
On Alternatives, when you enter identical size and weight items ones that cost more can cause the shipping to surge in price. This is to do with insurance ranges for various carriers. If you don't want to pay higher amounts, contact them about it, and they will adjust the amounts, but you loose the insurance. For me, in Canada, almost everything I have bought in 45 years of importing sports gear has come by the mail, and only one item, a book from the Outdoor Life Book Club failed to arrive. So do I want to spend maybe 30 dollars a package more when I loose 1 in a thousand. I don't. Plus it is a paypal sale, so I think the senders will do their best, if you know what I mean. Alternatives is excellent anyway.

The G2 is $40 more at Lancaster. I hadn't even looked at those. That's where it gets interesting...you can get a 'real' riser for not a ton more money.

Looks like I am getting a used Hoyt. It's a good deal with a few accessories and I'll see if I like the format.
I think it will be god form practice if nothing else.

I'd follow the advise from Jim and Cameron. I got a Spig Revolution from Alternative and was impressed. Cool looking riser.

Yep..it's already shipped. Hoyt Horizon Ended up $155 shipped with a Soma rest and Bieter clicker so I can't complain. But I might have to paint it!
Beats a low end Cartel or SF. I generally prefer having slightly ugly beater gear that is completely adequate for the job.

Nice, but I have never been crazy about any of the Hoyt risers. Hope you like it, I myself would of rather had a Flute or Samick used. Shawn

Someday I'll learn about wharfing....I've seen Bear risers for sale but don't know the ins and outs.
This Hoyt is even a better deal than I thought. I'm getting a Cavalier button with it too.

Just came in the mail. Not tuned but quickly shooting well. Too bad the clicker isn't legal. I might use it for form practice.
I don't think I can keep the riser blue...Krylon job coming soon.
