Am thinking about buying one of the Razor Sharp sharpening systems. Besides sharpening broadheads, I thought I could use it in my wood shop for sharpening woodworking tools, etc. Just curious, if anybody uses this system for their broadheads, and if so, if they have any opinions. thanks

If your You talking about the paper wheels there great. But take practice. I've always prided myself with being Able to put an edge on something. but the wheels take It to a new level. The secret is in the burr

One of the things that baffles some folks is getting them shaving sharp with just a mill file. You can do it, and you work the burr as you're doing it. I little stropping on a leather belt afterward and you have a very sharp broadhead.

As George mentions, you can get most any blade razor sharp with a good file.

The thing is, if you're like me you don't want to spend the time it takes to do that. That's where the razor sharp system comes into play. You still need to know the basics of sharpening, but the wheels allow you to accomplish it in a fraction of the time, and to a higher level of sharpness.

I love my little paper wheels. 8^)

Thanks to Mr. Barbee, and his video showing how to sharpen a grizzly broadhead, I purchase the razor sharp system and I am very pleased with the results and the speed at which I can sharpen broadheads and knifes. Thank you again Mr. Barbee for doing the videos that you do.

The sad thing is I can sharpen a Grizzly sharper than most folks call "razor" sharp and in half the time it takes most folks to go pee, and I don't need any power sharpening. I mean, I can touch up a head to an edge that mimics a razor blade, in seconds! Not even a full minute.

LOL Joe, if my broadheads saw as little use as yours, I could touch them up to razor sharp with a willow stick.

HAAAAAA !!!!!!!! 8^)

Ok, let me re-word. I can shoot a Grizzly head through a deer and take it home, rinse it off and restore it to an edge that few if any Leatherwallers could approach, in about 60 seconds or less.

A file in the hands of someone who is proficient at sharpening will achieve better results than someone not proficient with a razor sharp system and vice versa.

How many deer get trapped under a car for you to develop any meaningful statistical data on how sharp you can get broadheads?Fire us up, Frisky.

X2 George. Broadhead steel is quite soft compared to a good hunting knife. I shoot 3 blade heads and a file and a fluted butcher's steel is all I need.

File sharpening will never produce the quality you can get from a file-sharpening, followed by a good steeling. I'd like to take each Leatherwaller, starting with Rick and George, and privately teach you how to sharpen a broadhead and a knife. It would take too long. So, I go about my business, owner of the sharpest knives and broadheads in the world of hunting!

The razor sharp wheels work very well. I sharpen my broadheads, knives, throwing hatchet. All razor sharp in very little time. Watch Rick Barbee's video. I was thinking of getting the set and watched his video ordered soon after.

Thanks for all the replies on my question of Razorsharp System. I agree with Rick, I can reasonably sharpen a broadhead with a file. However, my other hobby is building flintlocks out of hard maple. It would be nice to save a little time in sharpening as sharp tools are imperative, and they need to be touched up often. Bruce

tOOk me awhile tO figure Out that pressure OF the file On the brOadhead changes as yOU mOve through the process> lighter, lighter and lightest> she be sharp by then>

If you use a file and want to take it to next level try polishing with an mdf wheel on a bench grinder with jeweler's rouge.I've had great results to say the least. I made a bunch with a hole saw for a couple bucks.

Valkerie broadheads has a nice paper wheel that is smaller and wider for doing three blades on it. It looks promising, I might have to try one.

I think perhaps Frisky has a big advantage on the rest of hus in that he has a big arse to strop on. Sandy

It took me about 35 years of practice before I was considered simply great. Hard, hard, work!

So for 35 years the grate Frisky was shooting crippled deer with dull broadheads?

From: Frisky
Date: 15-Mar-17

Even at age 12, I had shaving sharp broadheads and knives. However, it would take hours and a lot of improvement was needed. As time went on, I became the fastest around and my edges were second to none. That's what experience does. Today, I bask in greatness when it comes to sharpening, while others walk in darkness.
