I'll be using my 36# at my draw Nomad II. As far as penetration, which would you choose? 120 gr. Bear Razorhead, 125 gr Simmons Land Shark, or a 125 gr, muzzy. I am shooting GT 600's with a weight of about 400 gr. I don't see any real advantage in accuracy in any of them. Only as good as the person who releases them.

Just opinion, but I would go to the Simmons Landshark, or the Bear razorhead. Not a big fan of the 4 blade on turkey, unless you shoot for the neck. A good sharp two blade can get in a little better I think.

Don't under estimate the turkey and penetration they can be tough birds to bring down and can absorb a lot of arrow energy.

I'm thinking a wide 2-blade or maybe even a guillotine head would be my preference....

Maybe not a 2-incher (may as well go guillotine that that rate) but maybe an Ace Super at a bit over 1 1/2"....

How much meat do you want to mess up? A Bear or Muzzy will both kill as well as any other, but the Simmons will make a huge slice through. I'm not convinced that bigger is better in broadheads. I like the Bear Razorhead for all of my hunting. I also have some Ace Standard that will do the job. As for giant heads like the Guillotine, I wouldn't choose that with your bow weight. Turkey feathers are like armor padding. And remember, most people here talk about accuracy as a pie plate at twenty yards. Neck shooting a turkey with that kind of accuracy is a questionable task. At any rate, pick the one you are most accurate with and tuned to...and of course confident in.

If your not accurate with a BH it shouldn't be shot at a bird your just asking for trouble. Those who shoot birds know you shouldn't be shooting into breast so exactly what meat now gets damaged? The rib cage? There's no meat to damage with a tomahawk in the vitals.

If you study birds anatomy then you will see where the vitals are where you want to be shooting and aiming. Mussy would be the last head I would shoot.

20 yard shot with sticks is not close enough for me. Aces I also use but since the last couple birds the sharks have been my choice. These birds are very tuff and certainly do not underestimate them not one bit. If you shot any amount you know how tuff they can be. They aren't easy to go down unless directly into vitals.

I once broke a wing and a leg and that bird was able to high tail like I never seen before. I got the bird but was ugly he broke his tail up in the process then he tried to hide in a foxs hole. I never seen the likes of it before.

I like Ace, Bear Razorheads, Ribteks but this spring im going to try some Hills Hornets which i have shaving sharp and fly great.

Agree with others, Simmons or the Bear. Myself will use wensels or Grizzlies or zwickeys or Bear Razor heads or Magnus stingers or Magnus 11's lol. I have shot one big tom with a 60pou d compound and the arrow didn't blow through but got hung up sticking out other side. Don't under estimate how hard they are to punch through.

Bear Razorhead 2 blade for everything from squirrels to moose. Just my 2 cents !!!

Because turkeys give/move when hit, and because their feathers are quite tough, they're a lot harder to penetrate than one might think. Given the light weigh bow and arrow you're shooting, I'd scratch the 4-blade and Simmons right off. The bear, without the insert, will get the job done.

Nice picture monkeyball I like it. but most Indians baited and trapped small game animals like turkey.

I say the best BH for turkeys is a SNUFFER, but with a 36 pound bow and considering that turkeys are MUCH harder to penetrate than deer, I suggest a 2 blade. Even though I don't like 2 blades for turkeys.

I might even use one of the head shot type tips or not hunting with 36 pounds. I killed one turkey with 68 pounds and didn't get more than 4 inches. They're tough.

I killed one with a 60# Bear takedown, cedar arrow and Bear Razorhead. The arrow made a 'puff' sound and kept on going out through the woods. It penetrated both wings and the body side to side, and that was drawn to 27".

Yes, there are shots that somehow seem to not do what was intended. A 36 pound bow will shoot through a whitetail if set up properly, and will not be lacking for power on turkeys either. My first deer was an adult doe taken at around 35 yards; cedar arrow, Hi-Precision 3 blade and a 40# Pearson Hunter pulled to 27". Do the math. Only the feathers kept the arrow from passing through the far side of the deer.

I think few here really understand the power of a bow and arrow, even in light weights. It seems also that they are ignored when it comes to testing so I wonder how we have so many experts telling us how they just aren't good enough.

I love my simmons heads,, but before I had them the bear head and zwickey worked really well for me too,, there may be an advantage with some heads,, but I think in reality,, if you hit the bird right,, it would not make any difference,, what head you were using if its good and sharp,, its great fun to speculate,, and pretty hard to prove,,, for sure,, ok to the origninal question, I would use the simmons,, cause thats what I have now, and have had positive results for 20 years,, and I can get them good and sharp,, and they cut pretty wide,, Jerry told me the wing design, cuts wider than normal,, thats all I know,, if was good enough for Byron and Jerry,, good enough for me,,,:)

The Hill's Hornet that Boxcall posted above is almost as big as a Snuffer and way less money than a bunch of other heads, and it will get the job done.
