One was custom ordered back in Dec. 2016 but the other?...was one I was drooling over and came as a last minute surprise decision where the bowyer worked with me to make it happen.

The Custom Ordered One:

Is a Borders Hex7.5 Limbed Covert Hunter.

The Last Minute Decision Surprise One:

Is a 25" Borders Tempest Riser Equipped w/ Hex7 ILF Limbs.

It's 21" Phenolic/Shedua riser is quite the handful...

The first 5 arrow 15yd group looked promising...

But it did even better with lighter spined arrows...

And Borders CF laced Phenolic seems to give the bow plenty of character...wish me luck! ;)

if bows were horses that would be a clidsdale in A Budweiser add in a playboy mag...good looking BoI is

beautiful bows, always wondered about the benefits of huge hooks like that bet its very smooth and fast guess that's the benefit lol closest thing I've owned would have been a ballistic by John Fazio I believe stringing them hooks would be a challenge

Great looking riser.

Bill the Covert is sweet and sexy. The Tempest is butt ugly. Eye of the beholder, eh? What are the specs? Looking forward to the reviews.

Lighter spined arrows!!!!! Wow you have seen the light and realized you don't need to shoot 400 spine out of 45-50# bows?? LOL! Shawn

Jinkster, good for you. Both great looking bows. You are a hard guy to keep up with, now go set up that new Tempest and wear yourself out. :-)

Beautiful bows! I really like that Covert! The layered Phenolic is awesome! I just ordered a static RER but those Hex 7 limbs are nuts!

Good Shooting!

Rick

Looks like Border has been pulling a few pages out of Marc Moriez's Chex-Mate Hunter II's on the riser design and recessing the limbs. Smart move...

Nice bow Jinxster!

ga Bowhunter / Ralph.. I shoot a Fazio-designed Arizona-built longbow that has serious hooks but is easy to string... perhaps equal performance to the bows Fazio built in NM but a lot less decorative.

Rick the hooks on a border are not static they are actually a working part of the limb, one reason they get a lot of performance out of them. Shawn

So?...I'm out and about this morning headed to Bass Pro for Limbsavers and such and meanwhile?...my phones sounding off incoming email....and it's Sid both congratulating me on getting the bow set-up and rough tuned rather quickly and?...

It seems while I was fully prepared to just shrug off this "Slight Rock" it had mid draw and roll with it?...Sid had read my post and he wasn't...where after a volley of emails he suggested I shim the rock out of the limbs with folded up business cards or whatever I had and then get back where they'd figure out a more substantial solution alluding too some sort limb base packing?

So?...I was only a couple miles away from the shop so I swung by and picked up some plasti-gauge shim stock and went to work getting this rock thing sorted out....

From: Jinkster

Where I found that one piece of the white .025" shim between the lower limb and riser took a vast amount of the rock out?...adding a piece of .012" Black shim stock to it for a stack of .037" made the draw perfect where I experienced that (and may God help me) "Let-Off Sensation" with zero rocking.

So I opted to go with 3 layers of the Black .012 shim and did so in a graduated step up from .012" too 2 layers of .024" and finally 3 layers of .036" all glued together and trimmed with a hole in the right spot then glued that to the wood riser limb pad itself...

then rolled the black rubber liner back into place and viola!...my own graduated limb pad pack and the bow draws awesome!

I also manged to get the Limbsavers installed at Mid-Limb position where along with String Leeches and Fuzzy Velcro pads between the limbs and where the string leaves the bow?...with 470gr/12.4GPP arrows?...outside of some pristinely tuned Longbows?..this rig is one of the quietest bows I've ever shot...

and BTW?...this is the custom feature I requested when Sid Sr. offered to throw in Celtic Knot Graphics where I asked if he could incorporate....

"The High Cross"

where Sid Sr's response was..."Consider It Done!"

From: Jinkster
Date: 25-Feb-17

Thanks Folks! I can't set this thing down and?...

RonG:...

"Nice groups, are those limbs 45lbs?"

at 38#s?....I don't have to....I can shoot it all day long...as much as I want and?....

Not Hurt Myself! LOL! ;)

Does Frisky work at Border Bows? I think I see some turquoise in that limb lamination picture...
