Thinking on getting a newer grizzly just seeing what everyone thought of them?

I have a 2016 Super Grizzly and it is well worth the money spent over the Grizzly.

Fast and, once tuned, smooth shooting bow.

Bobby, did you shoot the regular and super side by side? Tell us more please.

Rhett, they are similar in every way to the old ones, and they re very good shooting bows. No reason why they wouldn't be. Now if they don't fit, that's a horse of a different color.

Side by side shooting...yes there is MUCH more performance from the Super Griz. There are two laminations in the limbs of the Super and only one in the Griz.

I think the Super is one of the best one piece recurves for the money.

Glad to see that you are wasting no time finding that Turkey Bow... either of these should be just what you are looking for and will kill old Tom big time. :)

For example, I shoot full length Center Shot arrows with 200 grains up front...My Super Griz is only 40# and it casts an arrow better than some of my 50# bows.

Shoots flat and hard, even with all that weight.

The new Super Grizzly is built for fast flight strings and one is provided. The Grizzly model uses a Dacron string. That most likely explains most of the performance difference.

And...the second lamination in the limbs...

According to the experts on here, if 2 bows are of the same design, limb material and lams do not matter. It is all in the design and the glass, not the space in between. That always made me wonder about the Grizz vs Super Grizz, if there is a difference other than the multi lams, in the limb design.

ONE THING I am sure of...the difference is not simply string material.

It must be because of the design.

If limb material and limb lams do not matter, then why is it that people pay big $$$ for carbon or bamboo cored limbs???

I have had bows custom built by the same bowyer using different material in the limbs (bamboo vs red elm) and the bows were the same length and approximate poundage. There was a MAJOR difference in the performance between the two. I bet you can guess which material performed better...

From personal experience, lambs and limb material make a big difference in both smoothness, speed and overall performance.

Harold Groves made performance bows with just one lamination, so don't assume it's just that aspect. The new string material is the biggest change in performance on any bow in a long time, discounting complete design changes.

Again, number of lambs and limb material matter....ESPECIALLY when it is basically the same design (as is the case with the Griz and Super Griz).

I am certain that putting B50 on both a Griz and Super Griz of the same weight, and shooting them side-by-side, would prove what I am saying.

I have a newer super grizzly it shoos really good better than i can shoot . i have shot the grizzly it shoots ok the biggest difference is the super grizzly has no hand shock none . the grizzly does . mine has a d97 string the grizzly comes with a dacron string . i really think it is the extra lamination and the handle itself is laminated .if you read the bear catalog it mentions the extra lam

You guys that have chronographs can figure it out. Both bows, same draw weight, same brace height, same string material...could probably use same string, same arrow, same exact draw....then compare.

It is just that some people are sooo smart, that it is impossible for any new information to fit into their brains.

When you already know everything about a subject, there's not enough room in your brain to learn anything about said subject.

The addition of a lamination has VERY little to do with the performance difference in an bow.

One of the best performing recurves that was ever made was the Groves Spitfire, and it was made with 1 lamination. A bow's performace is based on it's sideview, front, and braced profile. Any bow, regardless of whether it is made of paper, wood sinew, or glass and wood, will have similar performance. Maybe not exactly the same, but it will be extremely close. Now, if the handle bends less, that MIGHT have an influence. That's why JAck Howard put a piece of steel bar in his risers.

Shoot both then decide i have then i decided .

I picked up an old Grizzly for my co Worker and it is a great shooting bow. The new ones would have to be a world of difference for me to drop the coin.
