I had a Montana and I didn't like the grip at all so I sold it. The Patriot seemed to be a good choice so I ordered one and it arrived today. 64" and 50# @ 28". I draw 30". It's very nice but I'm a little confused at the arrow shelf. It's crowned and scalloped out. I can see the idea behind the design but I have no experience with it. It's almost a captive rest and I'm confused how it promotes arrow flight. The leather shelf material provided is very soft and kinda drags on the arrow when it's drawn and making a bouncy arrow draw. These are wood arrows. I'm thinking that I might use the fuzzy Velcro for a shelf material.
Anyone have anything to comment on this arrow shelf and this bow. I'm excited to try it out but with work it might not be until the weekend. Maybe I'll give it a few shots in the garage tomorrow.

Nock it 3/4 high to get out of that groove. Mine shot good. Found it stiff compared to others. Rooty

Are you saying attach a rest above the shelf?

Is the material on the shelf on backwards? Meaning that when you draw the arrow, it is moving AGAINST the nap of the material?

It's a very very soft glove type leather. There isn't a directional nap to it at all. I rubbed in a small amount of pecards leather dressing and it seems to have solved the issue.
I like the bow but the brace height recommended from Bear seems awfully low. I set it at 6 1/2" and my fletching are not clearing the belly side of the shelf. I guess is doesn't matter but I'm used to bows with more brace height.
It seems very nice to draw and points well. I really like the small palm swell on the grip. It seems to fall right into the perfect orientation in my hand.
I guess it has some unique features that I haven't encountered before and I am excited to get some arrows through it. I worked up some Surewood 70-75# full length shafts with 5" shield cut, right wing fletching and 125gr points. These worked out good as a staring point on my 45# SK so I think they might be a good starting point here

You can go up to 7 1/4 per directions that came with mine. It is a 50# @ 28 & I shoot 55-60 ash arrows with no problems.
These weigh 440 gr when cut to 28 1/4.

I can get it a little higher but obviously I want to tune it for the best which may be a lower brace measurement.

Tradguy, are you weighing a bare shaft? I've never used ash but thought they were heavier than that. MP
