Just finished up this Shagbark stave bow tonight. Last stave out of a tree I cut 6 years ago. Ended up 68" ntn. #55@29". 5" handle 2" fades, 1.75" to about midlimb tapering to approx 3/8" tips. Little dry heat to reflex the deep narrow tips. Belly toasted. Tips are antler from a spike I took this year. I used to build a lot, but hadn't in several years. The recent wood bow threads motivated me to get back at it. While I'm not a pro like many here, I do enjoy it, and appreciate the renewed interest by fellow Leatherwallers.

Bending nicely! Has a bit of character too, eh? Hickory sure makes a good bow. Nice job.

Thanks guys. The big knot in the upper limb really didn't give me too much trouble. There is a mild natural twist to the upper limb though, that required care to make it bend properly. The lower limb had some natural deflex that needed to be corrected with heat as well.

I don't know where you find the time Aaron. That's a beautiful selfbow.

zonic: "I don't know where you find the time?" Lol! Neither do I man! Seriously, just a little bit each day. This one took a while. Even though it's a simple design that I've done many times, I only had a little while each day to mess with it;-)
