Gathering funds to order a Bigfoot Sasquatch td. Any LWERS have a Bigfoot recurve or longbow with curly maple or myrtle limbs? Or just any of Kirk's bows? Pics and comments welcomed and any thoughts on G10 riser upgrade? Thanks!

Just received my ILF Sasquatch SS Recurve on Monday. Been shooting and really enjoying it. G10 in the riser makes it very stable and shock free,(dead). I went with 19" riser and due to my 27" draw got short limbs , making 60" bow. Really quick . Making my 500 spine arrows get shelved and now use 400 spine . Kirk is Very good to work with just ask him anything . I don't know about posting photos but just check the Bigfoot site and look at ILF Bows and you'll see what I have. Enjoy Ken

Thanks Ken. Have already talked Kirk and found him to be very friendly and knowledgeable.

I have a Flatliner longbow that is in the early stage of being built. Kirk has been awesome on communicating and problem solving with me. I highly recommend him.

62" Big Foot Sasquatch recurve, IPE I-beam, Macassar Ebony riser and veneers. If you're able to convey what you want to Kirk, he'll nail it dead on. I've owned quite a few custom bows and Kirk is the only bowyer to get the grip like I requested, he couldn't have done a better job on the grip if I'd been standing there when he shaped it. The bow is quiet, smooth, well mannered and very fast. I normally don't hold on to bows for a long time. Kirk built this one in 2011 and I don't plan on it getting away any time soon.

Thanks Billy and Mike. That Macassar is gorgeous.

I have a left and right hand Squatch. This one is myrtle and bubinga. both 60" and my pics don't do it justice.

Archre167: That is a beautiful bow. I like the combination of the red (bubinga?) and blonde in the riser. Are those limbs myrtle? they look a lot like curly maple. I am leaning towards a curly maple riser with myrtle limbs or vice versa. Thanks for the pics. If the real thing is even better it's a beauty! I am also wanting a 60 inch. I draw a little more than 30 inches but Kirk says it won't pinch at all.

Tyler, check with Kirk, I'll bet he has a video, or will film one, to show you the string angle at 30" for the bow your asking about. He's like a mad genius. He has come up with some unique ideas to match what I want to what he builds.

I doubt there is better shooting bow in the world or one that has all of the attributes of a quality bow. I have one of the first and love it. God bless, Steve

Mike,

I have no doubt that Kirk is right. He strikes me as a straight shooter and he is obviously very much a "rocket scientist" when it comes to bow design/performance. He told me that at 30 inches and 55 pounds the Sasquatch longbow would probably be over 200 fps and at least 190 to `195 with hunting weight arrows. Quiet, dead in hand and hit where you look is more important to me but I don't mind speed either. Archre167, are your 2 'squatches longbows or recurves?

From: Lost Man

Anyone know why he doesn't cruise tradgang anymore? He used to contribute a lot and I enjoyed his insights.

Same reason quite a few don't post there any more :>(

From: Archre167

Forester, yes they are longbows. and the pictured one is all myrtle with bubinga I beam. All his bows seam to draw smooth to rather long draws. He's got things figured out. The curly maple and myrtle he has is very nice,a good choice either way. His bows are smooth quiet and dead in the hand especially with heavy wood arrows.

Archre167, Thanks! Can't wait to order one and to get one in my hands.

TG is a tricky place for free thinkers. Many have moved on and it is too bad...although I don't blame them. I have too.

I don't post over here very often because i don't have a sponsorship here and i don't want to come off like i'm looking for free advertisement or promoting my products....

I have a first generation Sasquatch recurve. Of all the recurves I have ever shot, this one is my favorite. 53# @ 28", about 56# @ my 29 1/2". As noted above, Kirk did a bang up job getting the grip perfect for me and my shooting. Outstanding bow and bowyer in every aspect.

From: dagwood64
Date: 28-Jan-17

I would like my grip to be just a little thinner, more like my Journey's thickness.

I wonder why it wont let me embed a link? If i copy the links off the forum and enter them on address bar in a new tab they work fine...

Hmmmmm..... You guys that want to look at those photos will have to do that i guess.... anyone have a solution to that?

I just checked out the myrtle and bubinga album, for archre 167's bow. WOW! Really is a great combination.

That Myrtle and Bubinga longbow will have to be pryed from my dead hands! One of my favorites!

Thanks dagwood64. Beautiful bow. And thanks Kirk for link to Archre167 myrtle photo album. That myrtle makes a beautiful bow. I love the view of the bow leading against a tree showing the blonde/light yellow limbs.

I have a Sasquatch 3 piece longbow that Kirk built for me in 2013 and I am very happy with it. It is zebra wood with a bocate fang and bocate/carbon limbs. It has the G-10 I-beam which make a very slim, stiff riser. Kirk is very easy to work with. In my case, I started with a LH Sasquatch LB that I had traded for and had Kirk build me a RH riser for the limbs. He had to reshape the limb butts some and also modify the new riser some. He did this for the cost of the basic riser. He also took the LH riser and sold it for me and sent me the money. I can't say enough about his service and workmanship. Oh, and this bow is very smooth and FAST

Thanks for sharing your Bigfoot experience Box H. Yes, Kirk sounds likes a first rate bowyer who not only knows his tradecraft but is very customer-centered. The recurring comments about his bows are that they are fast, smooth and quiet. I hope to order one in the next month or so. Can you upload pics of your bow?
