I would love to see some pictures of your Liberty Longbows. I have been looking at them pretty hard. I can't decide if I want the Chief or go for the Hill style English, or Classic. Any comments and all pictures welcome. He does a try before you buy that I plan on doing once I figure out which bow I want. Thanks

I've owned a chief and Allen has sent me an English to try out. Tough choice! Both are outstanding. The English is very well mannered, no hand shock and nice and slim like my Super D. Two very nice bows, I don't envy your decision, lol! The Myrtle he uses for his risers are real nice! I had a contender and he made it with his older style locator grip on my request. THAT is a great grip!

Haven't shot the English, but have the Contender and own a Chief. I think the Chief is very well behaved, and quicker than the Contender. Given the design, I would guess both would be quicker than the English. Sort of depends on what you like to hold, look at and the performance you want. For me, it's theChief. All are very well made.

You cannot go wrong with Liberty Longbows. I have owned 4. Great shoot ability, amazing build quality and great customer service.

Highly recommend Allen's bows

I agree about Allen's eagerness to make the buyer happy and takes a lot of pride in his work.

I live on the West Coast and over many years have met with and had the opportunity to handle and shoot Allen's bows. I own the "Edge" and consider Allen's bows to be among the finest quality products that I've had the opportunity to shoot.

Nice looking Hill bows. Hard to keep up with all the makers.

He has probably the best looking myrtlewood lams in the business...and yes, his standard grip is just right.

I would go with the English over the Classic based on the performance difference. I have had one Classic and several of the English. The Classic is string follow very pleasant on the draw and release. Both are easy to shoot well. Craftsmanship is outstanding. 58

Recently got a contender hinge takedown. Sweet, stable, and surprisingly fast. Mine scales 64# but feels like a mid 50s on drawing. It shoots like higher than 64#

I own and shoot the Classic, like 58 states easy on the draw and fabulous release. and best of all his prices are very competitive.

Sorry, no pictures. But I have a Classic. Easy to shoot. It's the choice of woods and the finish that is, in my opinion, remarkable.

Also, Alan has a stash of aged, 38 year old yew.

I recently got my hands on a liberty contender 60 inch 45# left hand and know nothing about it could someone give me the recommend brace height.

From: Wayne Hess
Date: 03-Sep-23

I have an English, my guess some were between 6 1/2” to 7” brace Ht. Isn’t chiseled in stone, and the Contender shouldn’t be much different, you play with it and your arrow setup, should tell you what the bow likes for (You) May be even 6 1/4 “

FWIW, I have talked to a bunch of guys shooting those bows on the target range that love them….. never a bad word

From: Wayne Hess

P.S. I see Chuck your bow has a locator grip , brace hight I gave is measured from belly side and at arrow shelf , like a straight Hill grip, good luck

Just my opinion, but I’ve had a Contender, Chief, Classic and an English. All great bows, but my favorite is the English. Mine is 45 @28 68” and a take down. Very, very nice shooting bow. Mmm first time I couldn’t post a photo.
