I'm just curious as to other bowyers making a recurve In either one piece or t/d with a similar limb design to Chastain's wapiti. The big hooks and pre- load that give Them such a smooth draw. Also comparative quality. If anyone has a strung profile pic I would like to see it.just curious what's out there.

I have a Chastain, it is a great bow. I know of no other bow with such a fish hook limb. I am interested also now that you bring it up.

Here's a pic of one of mine strung up. They are great performing bows with pretty unique limbs.

Clark, I really like the beast guarding your bow. I see it's paw and shadow!

That's my old golden. She pretty much always wants to know what I'm doing and is my shadow.

RER bows is similar: http://www.rerbows.com/

Border and Morrison offer some 'big hook' designs. The Wapiti is smooth.

The bigfoot ss and more so the ilf are probly closer than the rer in the bend at the hook.

Check out the dryad acs rc. That would be one without going into the super hooks.

The Whippenstick phoenix has a limb similar but narrower. Too bad Brother Ken isn't taking any more orders.I was lucky enough to get two of these before he quit taking orders. Fast smooth quiet and just plain gorgeous and smokes and arrow.

Borders are super curves and cannot be compared to Wapitis. They rewrote the book on smooth. I saw a post where Sid said a pair he picked off the rack gained 2.4 pound between 24 and 28 inches. That's not a typo, most bows gain that between 27 and 28 inches.

Keith's bows are very nice, but a curve exactly like it? What's exactly like?

RER's are very close and they're a copy of John Fasio's (sp?) Balistik. So they're close.

Widows are much larger in hook, but s-curve - no.

For the speed guys out there I owned all four. For speed I'd rate them Balistik (2219 30 inches 125 grain head - 202 fps), RER, Widow, Chastain.

The bow has to get up to draw weight somewhere in the draw cycle. 2.4 pounds in the last 4 inches, where does the bow load up? I would like to see the numbers between brace and 24". I would also like to try one of those bows and "feel" it.

Not sure if there is anything exactly like it but a Schafer has a similar mid limb bend with less hook at the end. Bigfoot seemed similar as well.

The hooks open up like some others, but it seems the rest of The design is somewhat unique. I don't know the terminology But the part I'm really wondering about is at the fade outs. The core wedge that gives it that preload.

I think you mean the reflex in the wedge. If you lay the Phoenix next to a pittsley predator you will see a similarity. Bigfoot does it in his longbow hybrid but not the recurve. There might be others but off the top of my head
