A set of Killer Bees and two Flu Flu's to match, OregonTK, made for me. They are in a new quiver I had made in South Africa.

From: Bob Rowlands

Very nice work guys. I particularly like fairly busy arrow crests edged with metallic bands. Applying the metallics at the end of cresting is definitely my favorite part of the procedure.

Just finishing up a batch of arrows for yours truly. Hand ground, and burned turkey fletch, simple crest, and different nock colors, to distinguish two different spines. Easypeasy-japaneasy I have no problem shootin my arrows through critters. LOL Jim

I made 320 arrows all footed last year for 7 archers in the family They got plenty of arrows but not as pretty as some of those posted.I love this sort of stuff .Its inspiring. I may only do 2 or 3 sets of arrows this year .I will concentrate more on the 100 or so arrows that I need to repair of replace. For the new sets I need some more horn bone and ebony .I am footing my next set with ebony and Australian silly oak The knocks will be laminated bone and horn v spliced. The lamination combinations will be the time consuming part and my patients too needs to hold up too..I hope to post pictures in a few months.keep them comming .Does any one know how well ebony will spiral.I know some woods don't like to be twisted.? Here are some 1200 SPINE carbon arrows that Gary at D&M Custom arrows made for my daughter's 20# bow.

They're so small in diameter that a 600 spine Easton axis Arrow can slide over the top.

They shoot like missiles out of her little 20 pound bow!!

Beautifull arrows so far.One question why banana cut feathers? .To me they look so ugly.May be I just old fashioned. Can't recall seeing them back in the 60s or 70s OSR

From: Kodiaktd
Date: 29-Jan-17

Osr144, Everyone has their perferance on what they like. There are a lot of things being used today that weren't used in the 1960s and 1970s.

From: Osr144
Date: 29-Jan-17

Yeah kodiaktd you're right there.Maybe that's why they call me old school Richie (OSR).Personal preference is Ok with me.The grand kids always tell me get with the times.Still nice work on the arrows posted any way.I am going for my membership in the old farts club.I think I have been excepted now. Some retro arrows on the left I striped and redid. They were nice and straight, and fly great out of my 59 Grizzly. One even took a Buck a couple years ago. So I'll try them again. The middle are Ash shafts,40-45# they should hit hard. The green one is the only one left from a dozen. I'll be working on more. JF

Ron, It was early in the morning and my brain was babbling on and my fingers were typing something else. That sentence I wrote didn't make any sense, so I was just letting you folks know that I'm not ready for the men in white coats yet....LOL!

I would like to do feather splicing but I don't think my fingers will allow me to do tedious work anymore, your arrows are beyond what I would use for shooting targets, I think I would just carry them in my back quiver for looks...Ha!Ha!

Now I can really see what I have to work towards, my brain is not geared toward the artistic side, so what ever I make I have to get ideas from other folks......Ron

From: RonG
Date: 02-Oct-17

Mountain Man, That looks like what I have growing in my yard, no insult intended, just a joke!....Great Job, I bet they slow down rapidly after ten yards, by the way the first time I ever shot a bow was when my neighbor took me pheasant hunting, I was 12 and used flu flu's that he made.

Oregon TK uses surewood fir arrows a lot, so I bought a dozen and tuned one, shot it bare shaft and pretty consistently placed it near the ten ring at 15 and 20 yards, They seem to be more consistent than the cedars that I have used in the past, a lot easier to tune and no straightening required, at least not on the dozen that I received. I beleive I have a new wood arrow that I'm going to be using all the time, can't wait to shoot them with feathers.

When I get them finished I will post them here, there is not one bad arrow in this post, they are all beautiful, great job everyone and keep them coming.............RonG

Cedars I made earlier this year. Bumble-bees for my recurve, red/wht/blk for my longbow.

Eyeballed the feather profile with cardboard template and scissors... started out as banana fletch. I didn't like them. Trimmed them down but they are still too "high" I think... might trim them down again. A little Noisy out of my widow.

From: Mountain Man
Date: 02-Oct-17

Ron

They drop pretty good but thats the point right ; ) There alot of fun to watch arrow flight on these spirals,,there Douglas Fir shafts and i used antique brass field points

From: RonG
Date: 03-Oct-17

Scott, those are definitely top of the line in flu-flu's the ones I used were just large feathers, yours look really nice and I bet they do look great in flight. The flu-flu's I used went about thirty yards before they dropped, how far does your arrows travel and with what weight bow.

Thanks for your time, Ron
