I used to see this bow in the 80's'looking at hunting magazines and probably had the hoyt catalog as well, seems like there was pic of it next to a compound with the same color scheme, probably the ram reflex compound. I loved the autumn camo, always wanted one but have never seen one for sale and it would probably be hard to find a 40# one. Anyone ever shot one or know what length they came in? Would a warfed compound hoyt riser and samick limbs be comparable? I'm on a kick looking for items in the 1980's'that bring back memories.

I may be mistaken but the Rambo compound riser is the same. I had that bow but in black. Mine was 70# at 28". I sold it in 1997 when I was raising funds to buy a Bear TD. Except for the weight it was a easy bow to shoot. I used 2219's and 2315's arrows. It had a soft grip unlike any I ever saw agian. The camo version came out the following year I bought mine. Those risers are today in demand for converting to ILF. I have one with TT limbs on it.

I've had two of them over the years. Had one just three years ago that I bought off Ebay, and I've seen several on there since. Usually they are over 50#. The two I had were both 60# and I passed them on. I have yet to find a Hoyt that didn't shoot good.

I ordered one back in the '80's, with the camo paint job. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the dealer was never able to get one for me. It looked like a heck of a bow, at a time when traditional pickings were kinda slim. After my refund I ordered a green-stripe Bear TD.

The Ram Reflex Recurve used the compound risers of that era. The limbs were close to current ilf. Instead of a dovetail in a slot, these limbs used a round button in a round recess for alignment. Having a Hoyt riser (Spectra, Rambo, Ram Hunter, Ram Reflex, all the same riser)warfed makes a great shooting bow with infinite limb choices. It is my current rig for hunting and 3d.

John is correct. If you take a similar Hoyt riser, and adapt it to ILF, you will have one sweet bow.

FYI the Rambo Jr. riser is the same as regular Rambo riser with or without a plastic grip. The one I gave away had a plastic grip, the one I have now did not. I put on a leather grip.

Rambo had the new hoyt Easton riser. The refLex had the old hoyt riser. They were 62 inch when they came out. Mine was 65lbs and 77 at my draw. Great bows but got stout fast after 30 inches.

Nog easy to find one so i decided to try and make one. Not the same but it works. Samick limbs and a rambo riser. Next is the autumn foliage paint job. I had to shave a tiny bit off the limb butt so the bolt hole woild line up and i decided to fill in the space between the limbs and limb pocket with aluminum strips i ground to fit then glued in.

One of the best shooting bows i have ever had. Grip is awesome, 65 in long. Around 38lb i think. Made a 450+ string and i was in business. This bow just sits there when you aim.

Its not as versatile but you can get some light weight sage limbs on ebay for $70 and they pretty much bolt right up.

Still have a Ram Reflex marked 55#@28 but pulls a tad more. Killed 2 elk with it very smooth shooting bow.

The Rambo or Spectra will draw the same weight as marked on limbs for a 25-inch riser.

Great risers all of them. I have a warfed Raider for sale in the classifieds right now. All those hours make great recurves.

Look for some old sky recurves

I had LEFT handed one in the mid 80s. It was 60" and 60lbs in the camo finish. A little too heavy for me so I moved it on. lI do wish I still had the 64" Sky Hunter.

I used a brace height of about 8 1/4" on mine.

Bulls, I run my Rambo Warf at 7 3/4” .
