What brace height would you recommend for Samick Red Stag Longbow?

I'm starting out at 7 inches???

The bow is 40lbs @28 inches. Nice riser wood. One of the few lighter bows I have. I enjoy shooting in the 40- 45lbs range nowadays. I'm going to couple this bow with 1816s, 29 inches and 125 gr points.

Eric.. you're going to have to find that spot for YOU. I back the brace height off until a bow vibrates like crazy. Then I start raising the brace 1/8" or so at a time until the bow gets smooth, the sound is minimal, and the arrow flight is straight.

THEN, I normally intentianlly go 3/16" to 1/4" of an inch in either direction to confirm what I found. That's where I shoot it.

And I have -0- interest in where anybody else shoots theirs.

I've mentioned before, I know custom bowyers that shoot THEIR personal bows a full inch one way or another from what the majority of folks do.

Likely wouldn't do a lick of good. We talk about it a couple times a week, and have now for about two decades.

Eric, I always tell folks to use the old standard for a starting plase...the fistmele. That is also different for every person since hands, like brace, is a personal thing. Mine is 6 1/2", so I set it there and then start to tune. It will eventually work out no matter where you start...the bow will tell you. Get ya a good low stretch string for that bow if it doesn't have one. It will turn it into a different critter...and for the better.

How is that bow working for you so far? I bought one for my boy but yet to receive it

I used to have one. It was 55@28 & I found out it liked about 7 1/8- 7 1/4. But that was me with a 55lb model. Fdp is right though, you'll have to see what works for you. I hope this helps.

I like the bow, great for an extended range session (bow is only 40lbs)

It like 7 1/2 inches, and get this, 1916s with 175 grs tips, 29 inch arrow. The heavier heads weakened the spine enough for the bows draw weight. They fly beautifully.
