Curious what year Damon Howatt or Martin started making Trad bows that were made to handle fast flight strings.

1995 officially, when they built up the tips. I use them on several older ones in my collection.

Here's the tips on my 1996 Saber. The same as the 1995 purpleheart Hunter.

Peter, do you just pad the loops on your older ones? I do that occasionally on my '69 Shakespeare Necedah, but I'm really not comfortable doing it. Those built up tips would give me a more confident feeling. Thanks

I shoot a 9 strand Ultra Cam skinny string with 18 in the loops on my 1991 Hunter.

Sorry silver arrowhead...I use either Allen Shafer's Ten Ring strings made from Fury or Barry Hughes (stilldub's) BCY-X. The loops on both are padded.
I have experienced zero issues with either of them.
Here's a picture of a Ten Ring's loops on a 1965 Hunter. Right amount of padding and a smooth transition to the body of the string.

Funny thing - even with a cheap, heavy string on it, my old Hunter acts like it doesn't even NEED FF... I'm almost wondering why a guy would bother, but then if I could throw a heavier arrow just as fast.... Wow.
Think I'll start with a good, 12-strand Dacron per Mr. Hatfield's counsel.

"A quality string is the best and simplest upgrade an archer can make on a bow." From Ten-Ring.
Always works for me...

My 54 pound draw 95' Hunter has a 16 strand B50 string on it. Overkill and performance killing in my opinion. If I don't go with a padded loop FF, my next string will be a B50 with 12 stands.
