Aside of length, what are the differences between an early 1960's-era Bear Kodiak (amo 60" or 64") and a similar vintage Bear Tigercat (amo 2")? Let's put a similar draw weight of 40-45 lbs @ 28" on both models?
They appear to have similar "deltoid" risers. Limb design different? If so, what makes the difference?
Would a 62" Tigercat typically (I know, a subjective word) be "smoother drawing" or have less stacking at 29-30" than a 60" Kodiak (of similar vintage?
I'd like to find an early 1960's 64" Bear Kodiak (or 1959-62 Kodiak Special) in ~ 40# ("low 40's") draw weight. I've run across some pictures of 62" 1960's Tigercats, and feel they look very similar to Kodiaks. Never shot a 62" Tigercat or 60/64" Kodiak-but I do have a 1959 Kodiak Special (amo 68" 40#) that I love.
Thanks in advance.

Subjective, absolutely. But.....They are very alike in design; talking bout the pre 1963 Kodiak and the 62" Tigercat models. As for smoother and all that stuff, both are pretty smoothing since they are of like design. I doubt you notice much difference until you get pas 30" draw...if then. They are very similar in shooting qualities.
Now...please do not believe what I said and tell everyone. The Tigercat is still very affordable on the big auction, so let's not screw it up. Yes, I have shot both. No, not much difference.

George is right...not much difference and very similar in shooting qualities. One of my best scores was a 62" Tigercat, 50#, at the local Goodwill for the price of a couple fancy coffees.
The 'Cat is even more ignored than the Grizzly.

I have a '72 Tiger cat at 60" and a '69 Tiger cat at 62". I like them both better than my 2011 Super Kodiak. First bow I shot was a '69 Tiger Cat so I'm kind of partial. Bought three of them of them off Ebay for sub $100 each. Gave one of my '69's to my father. I think they're great shooters.

Found a scanned catalog of Bear Archery bows in my research about Bear Tigercats. Enjoy.
1967 62" Bear Tigercat scanned catalog http://grayling-bears.tumblr.com/image/79519298274
1962 (?) Bear Kodiak 60" from scanned catalog ( like the retail and wholesale pricing handwritten on the top of the page :-) ) http://grayling-bears.tumblr.com/image/79515520803.
FYI, I gave commitment to purchase a 1967 62" Bear Tigercat 40# bow yesterday based on your kind feedback. It's near mint with a bubinga riser. Thanks for the input. Keep the stories and comments coming. I enjoy them. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
