Folks- I'm mad! I'm up in arms! A month ago, my fox disappeared off my archery range property (my brother's property) I was worried he might have been run off by a coyote. This morning, my brother sent me this trail cam pic. This yote is gonna die! Now I know why none of the does had fawns this year. That yote is gonna learn what happens when you defile the hunting property of the Mighty Legend of the North! I'm gonna get him on the ground, with my Grail. He will pay for his indiscretion!

I agree with the 22-250 or an AR in 223 if you really want to remove the threat (if that's possible). Dang things are awfully hard to draw on and you don't often see them close. If you just want the challenge of getting one with "The Grail", by all means, have at it. I wish you luck Legend.
They won't have time to mock you when a 50-60 grain, .224 bullet zips through their vitals at 3000-3800 FPS. ;~)

Funny worrying about a coyote and let your cat kill baby bunnys for fun. 90% of a yotes diet is mice. Very few are ballsie enough to take on an adult doe. Any damage she inflicts is life theatning. Your best bet is to trap him! Trying to get a shot at a coyote can be tough to say the least.
If you call him up with a rabbit in distress, he will be on high alert! I can just impossible to draw on him without him catching the movement or hearing the draw!
I've killed them with archery equipment in the past, but they were just passing through and didn't know I was around.
I've killed hundreds with my rifle and I've trapped a lot of them also. Traps are the thing to use if you really want him gone!!!!!!

Open a can of sardines. Pour some of the juice on a small white rag. Place the sardines on the ground at a good shooting distance from your stand. Tie the white rag about 2-3 yards from the sardines on the opposite side of your stand. He will come in to the sardines but will keep an eye on the white rag. Lost arrow- I can't use sardines. That's the surest way to attract the cats, and he'll grab a cat instead of coming in to the bait!
A word on coyotes. In 1835 and years following, people like Col. Albert Lea came through here and reported "brush wolves" were everywhere. The filthy settlers killed and drove them off as they ruined the prairie. Many think their return is associated with the reintroduction of wild turkeys. There are turkeys all over my brother's property, and I think it's drawing them in. I have a feeling I'll end up making a buckskin shirt with a coyote back!

Yotes love bacon, you want to get one on a habitual pattern? Bacon, fry up some of that greasy assed Hormel bacon. Take a full bag for the scent stream and leave a couple of pieces behind. If you really want it to charge in use some of that original Hormel SPAM. Careful, there may be more of them than you think. You may need to hang a tree stand for your protection, in case you get some of that SPAM smell on your clothes.

I'm going to get this animal by stealth and cunning or not at all. I might not go out there tonight, but the corn will soon be out and this land will be the best place to deer hunt. Many people believe that hiding in bushes and taking game the old fashion way won't work. They choose to complicate matters. A highly refined, real hunter, can get the job done where the masses fail.

Way too many variables to make an educated decision as to why the fox left. Coyotes are not too blame, first of all. I trap coyote and fox on the same small track of property, year after year after year. Second, it is foolish to blame coyotes for poor fawn crop. Again, just because you saw one coyote is no where near enough information to base poor fawn crop on, and an absence of a fox. We must always be learning in order to make educated statements.

I was reading about yotes, as I haven't paid much attention to them in the past. They have about a 36 square mile territory and are largely solitary. They travel about 2-3 miles per day. They mainly feed upon rabbits and small rodents but are opportunistic. I think this guy was passing through and might not be back for a long time.

Not that hard to get a yote. I got a roadkill yesterday. After skinning it looked to have taken a single bumper to the head, frisky can drive (?) and that may be the option he needs-at least it be warmed than a tree stand.

The yote or another one is on the property! They're used to dealing with inferior hunters. They've never gone toe to toe with the Mighty Legend of the North. I sense trouble is in the air for them!
