Anybody have Desert Bighorn? Can you share your opinion about? Is it smooth or fast, how's the grip? What size feels the best?

My buddy just got one of Big Jim's bows but i forget which one. I do know it's a take down recurve. Sorry im not up on them since i shoot ASL's. I will say it is a good looking bow and the fit and finish are top notch. I shot it and will say it is a good shooting bow and spits out and arrow. My buddy is very happy with the bow and is using it instead of his ASL's to hunt with.

I have one and it shoots better than every recurve I have ever tried. Points with ease. I have tried around 100 or better over the years and the desert big horn is at the top of my list. It is plenty fast and very smooth. I have mine listed in the classifieds ( probably kick myself for doing it) but my loving wife bought me a big jim buffalo longbow and even though it's a tad slower it is my go to bow.

I recently bought a very new Black Widow. I have always shot BW recurves. This past July I shot one of Jim's Desert Big Horns. I no longer have the Widow, and impatiently waiting for my new Bighorn. Very comfortable, smooth and seemed to shoot 545gr arrows pretty quick. It was also very quiet. I guess you can say I really liked it

They are Jims best bows in my opinion I am down to 1 now and its great.Should not have sold the other one either. I have had 56 inch bows all tricked out the best of the best no back seats for my bows.

Jim's bows are beautiful...plenty fast, and shoot great. Now...they need to suit you, not me or anyone else. Don't know what you look for or expect in a bow, but it's as good as you will find. This performance thing is way overblown as a generic question. Any decent bow made today will do everything you need it to do. Jim's workmanship is top notch as well. You have to make a decision on your own. 8^)).

I find it to be a great bow. Not as bulky as other 3 piece bows. Fast and comfortable to shoot.

If I buy a recurve bow it will be the Big Horn but have no need for more bows at this point in my life.

If you go to a show where Big Jim is there, you would be able to try multiple bows at different weights.

I live 1h35min from Big Jim's shop. Went up to visit yesterday and pick up a new bow. Took a little shop tour.

Here are some Desert Bighorn limbs in various stages of finish.

Big Jim doesn't make poorly shooting bows LOL.

The Bighorn is very slim and trim. If you enjoy longbows or ANY bow you will enjoy a Big Jim Desert Bighorn. ;)
