Sorry I do not have pictures quite yet...I got my Takedown last week and it is right up there with my favourite bows ever...takes a big man to admit he is, you know the thing where you think one thing and then have to admit another thing could be correct as well...and for those of you who know me I am a big man (gotta correct that so my good clothes fit again)...I will take some pics tomorrow and post them

Good for you Dave! I was in your boat until about 5 years ago, and then I discovered that Bear was back on the right track. I still like the Grayling models a lot, but...

Come on Dave, PICS.. :-) Unlike many of you, I have really no prior knowledge or field use with Pre-Gainesville Bear Archery. I have tried to find different bows and shot several models. My favorite is a 70's Grizzly and, for what I can tell a mid 80's T/D Hunter. Yeah, it's the bolt down version, but shoots good for me. Dave in your thoughts prior to the new T/D did you have concerns about Bear's current quality, or?? Just curious.

I was wrong...the bow is fast and quiet with a grip that I really like the feel of...not sure what else one can expect from a bow...I would never pay the price for a new one...this one is a piece together (you know one of the big advantages of going with a Bear Takedown)...riser is an A from early 2000's that is in new condition...limbs are a set of #1 at about 55 pounds, same era as the riser I think and a set of #3 red tips at about 52 pounds...the red tips are blazing fast

Sounds like a moose hunting bow to me. :)
Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your new bow. I have six Bear Takedowns. Five Bear Kodiak Takedowns and one Bear Hunter TD. I like them a lot.

Is that a TRA serial #? Commemorative coin?

If it's a 1998 to 2003 model it should have the commemorative coin ( Fred Bears face ) and have a TDH- seral number prefix. A very late 2003 model may have had a TDA- serial number prefix.
Late 2003 to 2010 had either a TDA- or TDB- serail number prefix depending on which riser it was. And had a Brass Standing Bear Coin.

Three Rivers Archery commissioned 100 A handles at the time they weren't making A's.They were popular so Bear started making A handles again. The Three Rivers have a TRA serial # with Freddy Kruger coins. My go-to bow.

4nolz, Post a picture of that TRA- riser. I'd like to save it. I like to save as much information as I can about Bear bows. Thanks.

4nolz, It would be nice to own one of them TRA-risers since only 100 were made. I own a 1996 Bear Kodiak Takedown in a dark O.D. Green finish. Many years ago Frank Scott told me there were less than twenty-five made in that finish.

Thanks for selling it to me Brad...if you decide you want it back I would certainly consider that after hunting season is over...this is an ideal bow for much of the hunting I do...oops...it will need to be after Christmas...got some Italian hunting planned which is what I really bought it for

They are just so convenient with all the available limbs
