The green straps are a cam lock type buckle st r ap to secure seat to tree. The blsck one is suppose to be for carrying. I may cut the black off and let the green one double as a waist belt for carry.

I did something very similar with a Torges style seat. Our bur oaks have irregular bark that the rope won't settle on and they either fall when I get up or squeak. I added a couple of 90 degree metal corner flats to have two points contacting the tree, replace the rope with a simple cheap cargo/canoe strap and put a hinged drop piece to the ground of 1/2" ply wood. It worked, until I left it in the same place for too long. somebody took it.

Crow looks very comfy... Those wait scan be long so I hear. Pays to be still. I like it but the carrying around might be a problem especially on public land.

Thanks for sharing Crow. I just retire my Torges Seat for some of the same reasons mentioned. I think I might need to go back to the drawing board. Really like your hinged design.
