Well it's nice Bill, but you know the turquoise toothpick with out shoot it easily. 8^). Where'd you find that one?

Mr. Stout:

"Well it's nice Bill, but you know the turquoise toothpick with out shoot it easily. 8^). Where'd you find that one?"

It got listed in the classifieds of another site for all of about 2 minutes when I responded with...

"SOLD!...I'LL TAKE IT!"

56"/50#@28"

I've known the seller for about 5 years now on these forums and he claims he never shot it as the string is "Questionable".

So?...I'm going to need a string or two for it...I asked the seller to measure the questionably frayed and tattered string that was on it and he came up with 51 1/2" but?...claimed he thought it to be about 1/2" too long because the BH is so low but then?...questioned if "A Low BH" was part of Mr. Drakes equation in the design of this fast for it's day "Flight Bow"

I'm am currently trying to locate a good string maker willing to twist up preferably some B55 for it as I'm real hesitent to sting this bow up with any FF string materials as I'd feel horrible if I destryed this piece of archery history.

anybody know a string maker source for B55?

I'm also up in the air regarding...

Endless Loop VS Flemish Twist

for this bow.

anybody?...T.I.A. Bill.

Endless loop would be what it had when new.

HCB Strings or Ten Ring Strings both make quality B55 strings.

I have 3 forsale. Who wants one?

From: BSBD

It was up for sale for sale for a day and 2 minutes. I hesitated on it yesterday and I shouldn't have.

You know jinkster, the 'legend of the north' will say " that one is junk" but what does he know cool find and string it and have fun. That's why it was made JF

LOL the irony is comparing it to the flavor of the month might be eye opening.

BSBD: you're right...don't know how I missed it but I did...weird...I usually check about once an hour and when I first seen it?...it was still in "Bold" as though the add had just been placed...I know this....I'm blown away no one snatched it up then.

4nolz: I figure it'll be fun to see...I also purchased it to get a close up and personal observation of Mr. Drakes works...that alone is worth the price of admission for me! :)

monkeyball...it's still in the works...had some issues with me not liking how 2 paint jobs came out....so far. LOL!

Bill get in touch with Stilldub for a string. I bought one from him recently and it is a nicely made flemish string.

50#? Isn't that on the heavy side for you Bill?

From: Frisky
Date: 24-Sep-16

As I scrolled down, I was a little worried I'd get blamed, lol! If it's a 56" Drake, it's unusual. I think it's a Hunter-Flight, and they're 54". I'd take a shot or two with the current string on it, providing it looks ok, and see if it's noisy. If so, raise the brace height to where you like it and then measure the string length. PM Stilldub and get a B50 from him. He might have B55, but I use B50 and it works. That's a pre-pistol grip Drake and should really be a good one! Of course, it's inferior to the Grail.

stick33: yes...it is...if my plans for it were to engage in competition with it where a vast amount of repetitive well controlled slowly executed shots are required but?...I won't be doing any of that with this bow...not even close. ;)

Frisky: Thanks man...great info right there and explains the disparity between claimed bow length and actual string length along with a model name for the bow....Thanks! :)

Looks like a good one! Enjoy it in good health! Jawge

Jinkster, did you know this was a Drake BEFORE you saw the sticker? Just curious.

From: Frisky
Date: 24-Sep-16

It's really a neat Drake. Skookum could tell more about it, as can Tom Baldwin, but I think it's a late 50s, very early 60s Hunter-Flight. It doesn't have the pistol grip or the usual curved riser lamination stripe of the later bows. Mine had 54" written on it, but I measured it and thought it was a 56" bow and ordered a string that was too long.

George T: Thanks Man! :)

WillScarlet: I don't even have the bow yet...I downloaded the pix you see above from the classifieds sales ad but to be honest?...no...I wouldn't have known this bow is a "Drake" at a casual glance but I can tell you it certainly would've caught my attention (hence closer observation and inspection) had it been hanging in some pawn shop or flea market and now I have a curious question for you here...what makes you ask?..if you don't mind me asking.

Frisky: Thanks again man....something tells me this bow is going to be an extremely interesting experience! :)
