Don McCann is from near Seattle. He was a fine bowyer who built bows for a number of years. He built a fine longbow, as well as top notch takedown recurve. He was known for cutting his own Yew, and grinding it in to laminations himself. His longbows have a rather unique grip, they are not flat like the traditional Hill style grip.

When Don got busy around 1984, Larry Courchaine, the original Chekmate bowyer made some of Don's bows.

I have an old Archery Digest that Harvey Overshiner edited that has a story about him.

No....they aren't that well known, and you don't find many folks looking for them. They are good shooters though. Are you buying or selling?

If that's the bow that has the reflexed limbs, the reflex starts about mid limb, the handshock question is a no....they are about as smooth as they get.

There is a chapter on Don and his bows in Dan Bertalan's book "Traditional Bowyers of America". Looks like believed yew was the "ultimate core wood".

mo bo hunter, honestly most people likely wouldn't even know who you were talking about. The bow wouldn't bring a lot because of that, but it certainly doesn't detract for the quality of the bow. His bows looked different from the standard configuration but I remember they had good reviews. If the price is right...buy it. You likely won't find many of them anyway.

I have his ASL Knave made by Chekmate for a while and it is a great shooter. The oval section of the handle fits me like a glove.
