I will bet it's not a West Hunter but a Westbow Hunter. Their serial numbers were all 4 digits and ended in "F."

I predict your bow has big hooks, a rosewood riser and rosewood tip overlays. It may have tips made up of several layers of contrasting wood but I suspect the they're rosewood..

I have 1480F and 2995F. The first is a Westbow Jupiter and the second is a Westbow Special Hunter.

They are very fast recurves and point well. Great design.

Made in Texas very near where Bob Lee built the Wings.

Here's the Jupiter. It's 56" and 51#.

Jupiter's were maple...the Special Hunter is beside me on the rack but I don't have a picture of it. I'll send one tomorrow.

West bows are not common but they're a kick-ass recurve.

Here's another view of the Jupiter...

Here's a picture of the tip...I have a Ten-Ring string made from Fury on it. Works great.

Pdiddly,i have 4 WESTBOWS-Jupiter hunter 1495-F 56" 50#,one just marked HUNTER 56" 2270-F 53#,LH SIDEWINDER 1920-F 62" 42#,&finally a JUPITER STANDARD 156A 68" 41#& 2 WESTBOW catalogs,a 59 black&white catalog&a color catalog-no year printed on it,all these things I received from my uncle&grandpap-long long time ago.i shoot'em all&like you said very very fast bows.i really feel either wes Radcliffe influenced bob lee or maybe the other way around.

VINWING...totally agree with you. There has to be a link between Bob Lee and Westbow. The two producers were in close proximity in Houston and they look a lot alike.

I would just love to see those catalogues!

I have a 45# Special Hunter that crookedstix did some distance shooting with and it was eating the other bows' lunch, and they were not slouches in the performance department, namely a 1962 Bear Grizzly and a similar year Browing Explorer.

Funny thing I have a longbow made by a good friend here in Australia and it is called 'Westbow" 70"40# !! He is not a member of any forums, nor a collector , just tinkers away with wood projects at home. Must just have been a coincidence,
