I sealed some cedar shafts with Deft clear satin lacquer. It says on the can, cleanup with lacquer thinner. Will fletchtite work for glueing on feathers? MP

Try one feather and see. Dont overdo the glue. You may need to switch to Duco cement.

I wouldn't even try. Duco is the safest.

fletchtite should work on lacquer, I don't think Duco will

Lots of people use gasket lacquer, I believe they use Duco. Am I wrong?

Duco absolutely DOES work on lacquer. I use lacquer sanding sealer as a finish on my arrows and Duco works perfectly. Won't use anything else.

Of course, both have the same base.

Fletchtite is for vinyl(Bohning) based lacquers which Deft is not.

I check adhesive and finish compatibility on a single arrow. Learned that lesson the hard way.

I use fletching tape it'll work on anything as far as I know.

I always thought fletchtite for lacquer and Duco for everything else. If that;s not the case how do you know a head of time. Is there a way to tell by what's in the finish?

Duco works on everything.

Have used gasket lacquer for many years and duco is all that I use for fletching. Nothing better in my book.

Duco is the glue to use on lacquer based finishes, as has been said Fletch-tite is a vinyl lacquer and are not compatible, they are two different finishes. Fletch-tite should be used on Fletch-lac for best results, or bare aluminum, for which it was designed for. Duco will also work on acrylic's, I imagine fletch-lac will also work on acrylics, but have not tried it.

The way to find out for certain, is to experiment on a scrap shaft then you will know for sure. Bob
