Big Foot Bows ( Kirk Lavender) Sasquatch. Also millions of "big riser" recurves from the mid-late 60's. Good examples are Shakespeare Ocala, Bear Super Kodiak, Browning Explorer, Colt Huntsman, Herters Sitka and Sambar, several Ben Pearson models.

I forgot to include several superb models from Howatt. Is this what you're thinking? (1965 BP Golden Sovereign Mercury Hunter prototype)

Look at the vintage recurves on Ebay. Look for Shakespeare Ocala, or the shorter Kaibab. Big risers and great shooters. Also, Ben Pearson, Colt...Stallion and earlier Mustang (not the 58"). Hoyt Pro Medalist Hunter (won't come as cheap), Browning Explorers, Wing P-II (not cheap either). Lots of old bows from the 60's into the 70's had ample riser mass and shot great. Look at odd brands as well...York Crest, Herters Sitka and Sambar, etc.

I second Wes Wallace for a heavy-riser one-piece recurve, I have three. If you get it made with a bubinga riser it'll be a heavy, dead-in-hand bow. I don't know how much a ebony riser would weigh, but I bet it'd be a pig!

If I wanted a serious one-piece recurve it'd be a 3-pc Black Widow. Why? The best 3-D shooters and hunters around me shoot them if they don't own Groves recurves :-)

The best 3D shooters I see use ILF setups. Different strokes I guess. Personally, if I was needing a 3D specific bow, it would likely be a metal riser ILF setup. If one piece, likely I would try to find an old Hoyt Pro Medalist, or Bear Tamerlane. I can shoot both of those well. Those Hoyt's are kick-ass accurate.

I have to echo George--Ocalas, both in the 62" and 60" length, are the best-performing bows I've found so far...and that includes not just the old classics, but also a fair number of modern custom bows as well.

Beautiful phenolic Bear! If antiques like that can be considered there's a great phenolic 1-pc Bob Lee longbow in current classifides, and Groves last bowyer made a multi-color, all- phenolic riser Spitfire .

Yeah there's a lot of phenolic bows past and present that would give the mass weight.
