Bought a new old bow at a flea market. I'm thinking it's a 62. I'm going to refinish and let my boy use as a blind bow. My questions are: 1 what year do you think it is 2 the coin I removed and was glued to the face of the riser it's approx. 15/16 inch but the hole is approx. 3/4 inch 3 the coin looks right for the year but appears to be plastic not pewter, is this the wrong coin? I assume it is. 4 should I drill a larger hole and use this coin? 5 or should I look for correct coin? The limbs are straight and I have not much in the bow and am going to refinish anyway. Any and all thought are welcome, thank you in advance. Guy

The early ones did not have a 3 piece riser. It was solid brazillian rosewood.

64-66 if I had to guess. More specifically 64 because they stared doing serial numbers starting with the year of make in 65 I believe. So for instance the sn of a 68 bow would be 8.......... I think they started doing that in 65 and they they were doing it in 66. That was of sn lasted only to 69.

67-69 bows have solid risewood risers. And 70-72 are 3 piece but the middle piece doesn't curve like your bow.

Everything points to '64 as noted.

what about coin and size of same?

The coin was missing and someone stuck a button on it as a replacement.

Buttons like that didn't come around until the 70's.

Coin = flat metal inlet into the riser

Button = raised plastic emblem on a stud.

To make yours more like the original buy a replica coin from 3-R

Not a 70's

No stab bushing

No "K" serial number

Not futurewood riser

Curved accent, not straight (for 70/71)

What? Was my explanation in the first few posts not enough in-depth to tell anyone how to age their K Mags that are pre 72?
