In trade I received this bow, and I am more then pleased with it. After just a couple days of shooting I had busted some knocks which for me was a mile stone in its self. A couple of questions. 1) Is the bow actually made by Bear Archery- as it has limb bolts not latch style attachments. 2) Is there a way to get another set of limbs?

I am going to keep shooting it as is for a while, but would like to know what my options are. To me it does not really matter who made it, just want to find the availability of additional draw weights. Also if some knows, for sure, what other limb types/makes would fit this bow that would be appreciated as well. Much appreciated, -Bones

Yes it was actually made by Bear Archery I believe from 1988 to 2000 - 2001.The only way I know of to get another set of limbs is if you can find a set on an auction site, or if you can find a bowyer that could make you a set. The first one made in 1988 had a brown riser with an accent stripe going down the middle of the riser. ( 1988 catalog pictured )

Then in 1989 to 1996 the risers were a multi-color maple laminate. Late 1996 to around 2000 to 2001 they were one-color maple laminate. They all were 60" AMO, had the button Bear medallion, black colored glass, brown laminate tips, and a TD- serial number prefix. The older models you could get limbs up to 70#, later it was changed to 60#. If I remember correctly the risers had bushings for use of a sight or a quiver.

My brother had one in the early 1990s and as I remember they were a good shooting bow.

I had one for a while, liked it but limbs were too heavy of draw wt. They were made in Gainesville I believe.

Sorry I almost forgot. In 1992 Bear Archery made them in a black and tan camo finish. ( 1992 catalog pictured )

Kodiaktd, thanks for the information. On basic search I could not find anywhere that had this bow. It does shoot nice. Not especially fast, but just nice to shoot. I will keep an eye on the auction site, and if I get real adventurous I may try to find someone to make a set of limbs. As many years as the bow was made I am surprised that there are not more limbs available, or more easily found information.

Thanks again,

-Bones

Cody, The only problems I could see a bowyer having making limbs for it is they would have to find or reproduce the double pin limb alignment guides. But I'm sure someone could do it.

I guess that would be the part I had not figured. Lots of people make limbs, but how many could fashion the pin alignment? All things to consider. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
