I know I've seen this topic a bunch but.... How hot should the water be again? Does anyone have a better way to straighten a twisted limb, besides the hot water and reverse the twist? Should I just call the bowyer and ask his advice? At this point, it's too late to send the bow in question to be repaired, as it is my go to hunting bow and season starts August 1 for bear and August 27 for elk. What is the usual culprit that causes limb twist in the first place? Other than improper stringing ?

I just used a hair dryer, being careful not to over heat one spot, and got the limb good and warm. Then just grabbed with my hands and twisted the limb back, held it there for a few seconds. Did that twice and it seems to have held. Hillbilly layman's fix, but it worked. I only had 5 bucks into the bow so why not eh? The string is in the center now.

Most hot water heaters are at or around 120, so that is what I use when I need more help than just a reverse bend. I just heat it till is warm to the touch...not hot, then revers the twist with the string on...and run cold on it when it stays in groove. I let it strung for a few days after that to set the memory in the limb.

Ive used a Snap-on heat gun hair dryer will work Becareful and go slow and even, ive put a 2x4 clamped to my steel top work bench, put alittle heat to it and ive used a racket type clamp and clamp the limbs to 2x4 going one click at a time while evenly apply'n heat When you get the limbs flat on board snug it up(your not holdn the whole table together)and let it cool Thats whats worked for me anyway,,good luck

I went with the water as hot as it comes from the faucet. Keep checking/twisting the limb. It will get slightly softer as it heats. Twist it a little bit farther than it needs to go. Hold it a few minutes until it starts getting cooler then let the cold water run over it. It took 2 try,s on my old Grizzly but it has stayed straight for years now. Don't know if it makes a difference but I straightened it immediately after it twisted. A friend was stringing it and it slipped. The string slipped off the side and it put nearly a 45° twist in the limb. I still can't believe it didn't crack. Hope this helps. Ken

Thanks for the help. I'm going to give it a go and see what I can do. So far it doesn't seem to effect the shooting of the bow but it makes me nervous to have it in this condition.
